After India and Pakistan, Canada has levelled allegations against China for allegedly interfering with its 2019 and 2021 elections. The Canadian spy agency, Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS), told the Prime Minister’s Office about the interference in February 2023, Canadian media reported.

According to CBC News, a top-secret briefing note shows the CSIS informing the PMO about the interference. The document stated that People’s Republic of China (PRC) “clandestinely and deceptively” interfered in both 2019 and 2021 general elections. The interference was pragmatic in nature and focused primarily in supporting those viewed to be either ‘pro-PRC’ or ‘neutral’ on issues relating to the Chinese government.

In the document, 11 candidates and 13 officials, as well as various political parties, were accused of foreign interference by the Chinese government. The report said online advertisements and advertisements were intended to deter Canadians, particularly Chinese, from supporting the Conservative Party. Also note that election results are not affected by these efforts.

Special judge Kaveri Baweja dismissed the application after reserving her verdict on April 5.

Advocate Vivek Jain, appearing for Kejriwal, had submitted that there are 35 to 40 cases going on against him and half an hour twice a week is not sufficient for a person to understand and give instructions.

The High Court on April 9 rejected Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's plea against his arrest in a liquor law case, sources in the watchdog said. The investigation revealed his involvement in the use of proceeds of crime.

HC said, "Documents collected by the Education Ministry revealed that Kejriwal was involved in formulation of excise law and use of proceeds of crime."

Following the HC verdict, AAP said it has decided to move the Supreme Court on April 10.

Meanwhile, the HC upheld Kejriwal's arrest on the grounds that it was not illegal. The court also noted that it had no objection to Kejriwal being sent to judicial custody. The Delhi chief minister said his arrest was a well-planned attempt to embarrass him and damage the Lok Sabha polls.

A bench of Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma said that this court was of the view that the petitioner was arrested for money laundering and his arrest and defense should be examined by the court from the point of view of law, irrespective of the election.

The ED case also revealed his involvement in his personal capacity as an AAP representative. Excusing those who accept is not at the discretion of the Ministry of National Education, but a judicial decision. "If you denigrate the pardon... you are insulting the judge," the court said.
