Interestingly, vehicles used by the IDF are usually equipped with explosives on the outside to avoid injury to the occupants in the event of an explosion. In any case, the incident is expected to increase calls for a ceasefire and increase Israeli public anger over the exemption of ultra-Orthodox Christians from military service.

Chandrababu Naidu and Nitish Kumar, who won 16 and 12 seats in the National Assembly, have emerged as kingmakers, becoming integral to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's third government. Its allies in the Indian bloc, the AAP, earlier this month said the post should be given to either the JD(U) or the TDP. Senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot alleged that if the BJP wins the Speaker's post, horse-trading will begin between JD(U) and TDP lawmakers. Since the Gaza war began in October, Israeli forces in southern Lebanon have been engaged in regular gun battles with Hezbollah forces across the border.
