Annapurna Devi, the Minister of Women and Child Development, stated in her reply to Ms Banerjee. 

There are  48,600 pending rape and POCSO cases in West Bengal, the state has not activated 11 more FTSCs, which could be specialized POCSO courts or FTSCs that handle both rape and POCSO cases, as needed by the state. Ms Devi stated that the information provided in your letter is factually inaccurate and seems to be an attempt to conceal the delays in implementing the FTSCs by the state. 

BJP's co-incharge for West Bengal, Amit Malviya, has also raised concerns about the West Bengal Chief Minister's lack of effort in enforcing laws to safeguard the well-being of women and girls. 

Mr. Malviya stated in a post on X that Mamata Banerjee needs to clarify why the West Bengal government has not taken any steps to enforce the strict rules and guidelines designed to safeguard women and girls.
