Two Chinese citizens were killed and one was injured in "terrorist attack" in Pakistan

 

China has reported that two of its citizens were killed and one was injured in what they describe as a "terrorist attack" in Pakistan. The incident occurred near Karachi airport, where a convoy from the Port Qasim Electric Power Company was targeted. 

The attack took place at approximately 11pm on Sunday, close to the Jinnah International Airport. The Chinese Embassy in Pakistan has called for a thorough investigation, punishment of the perpetrators, and increased security measures to protect Chinese citizens and projects in Pakistan. According to Geo News, at least 10 people were injured in the attack.

Rescue official Hassaan Khan stated that 10 vehicles were damaged by the explosion, with four cars completely destroyed. In an email sent to journalists previously, the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) claimed responsibility for the attack, which utilized an improvised explosive device (IED). 

The BLA advocates for independence for Balochistan and is involved in a wider insurgency in Pakistan's largest and most sparsely populated province, sharing borders with Iran and Afghanistan. The government of Pakistan has prohibited the organization. In August, the BLA orchestrated concurrent assaults in the province resulting in over 70 fatalities. 

The BLA has taken responsibility for incidents in Balochistan, such as the murder of seven barbers in Gwadar in May and the killing of multiple individuals abducted from a highway in April. The group focuses on targeting Chinese interests, particularly the port of Gwadar, as they accuse Beijing of colluding with Islamabad to exploit the province.

The Tamil Nadu BJP leader, Annamalai, held the Tamil Nadu government responsible for the four casualties at the Chennai air show, as inadequate provisions were made for the numerous attendees at Marina beach. 

The recent incident led to five fatalities and numerous injuries, attributed to overcrowding, heat-related issues, and insufficient amenities at the location.(MethodImplOptions. 248) "The news of five individuals succumbing to the crowd and over 200 sustaining injuries during the IAF 'Air Show' event at Chennai's Marina Beach was distressing."

 "The inadequate safety measures and lack of basic facilities, along with insufficient transport arrangements provided by the DMK government have put the public at risk during the IAF Air Show," stated Annamalai in a social media post. He criticized MK Stalin for failing to prioritize public safety during large events, questioning why proper arrangements were not ensured, especially when similar arrangements are made for events that benefit the chief minister personally. 

"I strongly denounce chief minister MK Stalin and the DMK government for prioritizing self-interest over the well-being of the public, resulting in the tragic loss of five lives and the suffering of numerous families." The Chief Minister must be accountable to the public on this issue," he stated.

Following Netanyahu's criticism, Macron's office emphasized that "France remains a strong supporter of Israel," noting that Macron is committed to Israel's security. The Times of Israel reported that Macron's office confirmed France's deployment of military forces during Iran's recent missile strike, similar to the response in April. The recent tension between the two countries occurred as Israel placed its military on high alert in preparation for the anniversary of Hamas's October 7 attack, following threats of retaliation for Iran's missile strike. The alert was issued while Israel was in the midst of an escalating conflict with the Lebanese Hezbollah group. Army chief Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi stated that the group would be targeted "relentlessly and without compromise".
