The president of Russia expressed his agreement with Trump’s assertion that he was the legitimate victor of the 2020 United States election, not Joe Biden.

Vladimir Putin stated that the "situation in Ukraine" could have been prevented had Donald Trump held the presidency during that period.

He further supported Trump’s allegation that his win was "taken away" from him and that he, rather than Joe Biden, truly won the 2020 election.

"I must concur with him; had he been the president – if his victory had not been usurped in 2020 – there perhaps would have been no crisis in Ukraine that started in 2022," Putin remarked to a state television reporter, as reported by AFP.

Putin suggested that he and Donald Trump should get together to discuss the situation in Ukraine and the prices of energy. He also characterized the US president as intelligent and practical, according to Reuters.

Donald Trump's administration halts all international aid from the US, with Israel being the only exception

Donald Trump's administration halts all international aid from the US, with Israel being the only exception.

According to an AFP news report, the United States, which is the largest contributor globally, has not put a stop to emergency food and military support for Israel and Egypt. In a comprehensive action, the newly inaugurated Trump administration announced on Friday that it has frozen all foreign assistance, including aid to Ukraine, with only Israel and Egypt being exempt from this freeze.

As noted in the report, the US, recognized as the largest donor, continues to provide emergency food and military resources to Israel and Egypt.

In an internal communication referenced in the report, Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated, "No new funds should be committed for new grants or the extension of current ones until all proposed new allocations or extensions have been reviewed and authorized." This decision aligns with President Trump’s promise of an "America First" approach that emphasizes strict limitations on international aid.

The directive is anticipated to influence various forms of support, from development funding to military assistance, affecting Ukraine especially, which received billions in weaponry during the tenure of Trump’s predecessor, Joe Biden, to aid in its struggle against the Russian invasion.

The AFP article also indicated that this order could lead to a halt in US funding for PEPFAR, a program aimed at combating HIV/AIDS that provides antiretroviral medications in developing nations, primarily in Africa, and which has been paused for at least several months.

Initiated by President George W. Bush in 2003, PEPFAR is credited with saving roughly 26 million lives and had previously garnered widespread bipartisan backing in Washington until recently.

China is emerging as the global frontrunner in hypersonic missile technology, taking the lead ahead of both the United States and Russia

China is emerging as the global frontrunner in hypersonic missile technology, taking the lead ahead of both the United States and Russia

China is emerging as the global frontrunner in hypersonic missile technology, taking the lead ahead of both the United States and Russia, while India accelerates its efforts to keep pace.

The competition for hypersonic armaments is becoming more intense. On January 21, India achieved a significant milestone by successfully conducting a ground run for an active-cooled scramjet combustor. This success follows India's recent test of its first long-range hypersonic missile, which was developed domestically.

On November 16, 2024, India conducted the test launch of a long-range hypersonic missile capable of delivering various payloads over distances exceeding 1500 kilometers. With this accomplishment, the Defense Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has showcased its ability to create an active cooled scramjet combustor, a crucial component for hypersonic vehicles.

Hypersonic technology combines extreme speed, agility, and the ability to fly at low altitudes, rendering these weapons more challenging to track and target. Unlike conventional ballistic missiles, hypersonic weapons do not follow a predictable ballistic path; instead, they possess the capability to maneuver toward their targets. Hypersonic cruise missiles can achieve speeds surpassing Mach 5, exceeding 5,400 kilometers per hour.

Hypersonic weapons fall primarily into two categories: hypersonic glide vehicles that are launched from rockets and glide toward their targets, and hypersonic cruise missiles that utilize high-speed, air-breathing engines, known as scramjets, after acquiring their targets.

Scramjets are advanced air-breathing engines that can maintain combustion at supersonic speeds without the need for moving parts. According to the DRDO, the recent ground test of the scramjet combustor highlighted several significant advancements, including successful ignition and stable combustion, demonstrating its potential for operational use in hypersonic systems.

The global pursuit of hypersonic weaponry is rapidly escalating. The US Department of Defense has identified China as the leader in hypersonic technology, having outpaced both the US and Russia in the development of conventional and nuclear-capable hypersonic systems. Reports from recent intelligence leaks indicate that the People's Liberation Army successfully tested its DF-27 intermediate-range ballistic missile equipped with a hypersonic glide vehicle in 2023, allowing it to easily bypass missile defense systems.

India Plans to Construct 50 Additional Airports Over the Coming Five Years

India Plans to Construct 50 Additional Airports Over the Coming Five Years

Current estimates indicate that nearly 140 airports are operational in India as of 2024.

Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu unveiled an ambitious initiative to build 50 new airports in the next five years, with a significant emphasis on enhancing Delhi (DEL) as a primary international aviation center.

In a conversation with ANI during the World Economic Forum 2025, Naidu conveyed India’s determination to broaden its aviation landscape by leveraging international collaborations and advancements in technology.

India's Aspirations for New Airports

The minister pointed out the impressive expansion of India’s aviation industry, which has recorded an annual growth rate surpassing 10 percent in the last decade. India has established itself as the third-largest domestic aviation market, drawing considerable global interest from potential investors.

Naidu also outlined a plan for the next two years aimed at elevating Delhi to a pivotal aviation hub, partnering with airlines and global stakeholders to create extensive transit networks and enhance passenger services.

The government’s approach incorporates the enhancement of airport infrastructure, diversification of passenger fleet capabilities, and meeting the rising demand for both domestic and international air travel.
