National Security Guard's bomb squads reach Sandeshkhali after discovery of arms

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) raided a house in Sandeshkali in West Bengal in connection with the attack on a group of policemen on January 5. kill. The residence of Trinamool Congress leader Sheikh Shahjahan, who is currently in prison, was raided.

A 10-member CBI team raided a house belonging to Abu Taleb, a relative of Trinamool Congress leader Hafizul Khan, in Saberia area of Sandeshkhali. Hafizul was a close friend of Sheikh Shah Jahan.

While investigating the raids of the ED team, the CBI received information that the items lost from the laboratory in January and other items of poor quality were stored at the address of one of Sheikh Shahjahan's institutions.

Accordingly, the CBI team along with CRPF personnel raided two places in Sandeshkhali on Friday. During the raid, police seized three foreign bombs, an Indian pistol, a Colt officer's pistol and a large number of bullets and cartridges.

Incriminating information regarding Sheikh Shah Jahan was also seized.

The destruction team consisting of National Security Officers also reached the scene in Sandeshkhali after seizing weapons, ammunition and bombs. They destroyed what appeared to be homemade bombs.

Investigators who came to the scene upon notice brought explosive devices to search for explosives.
