Malayalam actor Mohanlal visit landslide affected Wayanad

The extent of destruction is unimaginable: Mohanlal visits army camp and landslide-affected areas in Wayanad.

Malayalam actor Mohanlal on Saturday congratulated the Indian Army for their commendable work in landslide-hit Wayanad. He spoke to media after arriving at the Territorial Army Base Camp. "The extent of the destruction can only be understood by visiting the site. We are extremely grateful to the Army and other volunteers who have undertaken relief efforts. We will also be donating Rs 30 million from the Viswasanti Foundation for reconstruction work in the area," Territorial Army Lt. Colonel Mohanlal said. After holding talks with army officials, he visited the landslide-hit areas of Mundakkai and Panchrimattam. He spent around 10 minutes in Mundakkai area. Major Ravi also accompanied him to the affected areas.

The bull elephant seemed to be aware of their plight and remained calm without harming them.

"We were very close to the bull elephant's feet and he seemed to understand our predicament. We stayed there till 6am and the elephant stayed there too until he was rescued by some people in the morning. "At the end of the night I could see tears in his eyes," she recalled.
