Russia to keep Brahmos-armed Amur 950 submarine with vertical launch capability as showcase for Indian Navy

Russia to keep Brahmos-armed Amur 950 submarine with vertical launch capability as showcase for Indian Navy

Rubin's Central Design Bureau said in a statement: "At the Army-2024 exhibition, the Design Bureau will present the non-nuclear submarine Amur 950 of the sea area with a vertical launcher."

The Brahmos vertical launch capability of the submarine is clearly aimed at the Indian Navy. We recall that the Russian UAC had earlier introduced the AMUR 1650 for the procurement of the Indian Navy's Project 75I submarines.

Submarine Amur-950

The Amur-class submarine is a modernized version of the Kilo-class submarine with improved acoustic stealth, new combat systems and an air-independent propulsion option. The Indian Navy currently operates the 7 Kilo class submarines, locally called the Sindhughosh class. The ships have been purchased by Russia since the late 1980s and have had some life extensions and capability upgrades. Kilo class submarines are known for their low acoustic signature. They feature a double hull: the inner pressure hull is designed to withstand underwater pressure and a light outer shell provides additional mobility and protection.

The space between the two hulls is often used for ballast tanks and other systems. This design improves the survivability and operational capabilities of the submarine. In contrast, Amur-class submarines are single-hull, which reduces displacement and acoustic signature. They are powered by a completely new main electric motor with permanent magnets, which is characterized by high energy conversion efficiency even at low cruising speeds.

As a result, the acoustic signature of the Amur-650 submarine is several times lower than that of the older Kilo-class submarines! Amur submarines can be equipped with a hull extension plug with AIP (Air Independent Propulsion) fuel cells, which significantly improves durability and diving autonomy.

Features

As its name suggests, the Amur-950 displaces 950 tons on the surface and 1,300 tons submerged.

The boat is 56.8 m long and has a width of 7.2 m. It can reach 20 knots while diving and has a range of 350 nm in AIP and 4000 nm in free diving. Adequate armaments

Despite its small size, the Amur-950 is a great punching tool.

The submarine will be equipped with 10 vertical silos for BrahMos missiles, 4 533 mm tubes with 16 torpedoes, missiles and mines. It is capable of firing shots at certain predetermined targets.

Rubin's statement referred to submarines as "a floating naval battery capable of conducting a powerful preemptive strike against enemy ships and coastal infrastructure."

Local production

While proposing the Amur-1650 submarine against India's Project 75I requirements, Russia offered to jointly design and build the flagship design vessel with India.

On July 9, 2019, the deputy director of the Federal Service for Military Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) Vladimir Drozhzhov told reporters that the ToT during the implementation of the project will be total, allowing India to build a following for yourself. Russia has also proposed that the Project 75I submarine be equipped with either the DRDO-developed AIP or the Rubin-developed AIP.

Interestingly, when procurement of Project 75I began, the QRs (qualitative requirements) included AIP and ground attack capability. (At least 12 LACM with a distance of 500 km).

'They can't save': ahead of planned attack, Iran's army chief vows to destroy Israel

'They can't save': ahead of planned attack, Iran's army chief vows to destroy Israel

Before the planned attack on Israel, the head of the Iranian army Major General Abdolrahim Mousavi vowed to destroy the Jewish state.

After the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran last week, which Iran blamed on Israel, Iran vowed revenge. Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei ordered direct attacks against Israel and Israel and the United States believed an attack was considered imminent.

While the Iranian attack could trigger a full-scale war in the Middle East, Mousavi said that Israel could not stop its annihilation and that the end of the State of Israel was not far away. Mousavi said Israel was resorting to war to try to stop the destruction of the state. By doing such things, he said, the Israelis "want to get out of the quagmire in which they have been caught, but they certainly cannot save themselves from annihilation," according to Iranian media.

Mousavi added that a "strong" and "resolute" response to Haniyeh's killing was in sight.

Iran is committed to destroying Israel

Since Israel cannot save itself from annihilation, it has no future, Mousavi said.

Iran has been the main enemy of Israel since the establishment of the regime after the Islamic Revolution of 1979, it opposes the existence of the State of Israel and is committed to its destruction. Iran considers Israel a "cancerous tumor" that must be removed from the face of the earth. Although embodied in the ideology of the Islamic Revolution, Supreme Leader Khamenei also tweeted.

Trump will discuss Harris on ABC, but he wants more

In a press conference at his residence in Palm Beach, Florida, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said he wanted additional debates on September 4 and 25 to be broadcast on Fox and NBC.

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump and Democratic challenger Kamala Harris will debate Sept. 10 on ABC, setting up the first showdown between the rivals in what polls suggest will be a close race.

At a press conference at his residence in Palm Beach, Florida, Trump said he wanted additional debates on Sept. 4 and Sept. 25 to be broadcast on Fox and NBC.

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump and Democratic challenger Kamala Harris will debate Sept. 10 on ABC, setting up the first showdown between the rivals in what polls suggest will be a close race.

In a press conference at his residence in Palm Beach, Florida, Trump said he wanted additional debates on September 4 and September 25, which will be broadcast on Fox and NBC.

In a post on X, Harris said he was looking forward to the September 10 debate after Trump "finally engaged." Harris told reporters after a campaign stop in the Detroit area that she was open to discussions about other debates, but a campaign official reiterated her position that a Sept. 4 debate on Fox was not not on the agenda. Discussions about future debates depend on Trump's participation in the Sept. 10 debate on ABC, the official said. Harris' campaign team previously opposed a debate on Fox, saying the host channel should be the one that sponsored the two parties' recent primary debates.

Trump had already suggested he might withdraw from the debate, expected before Harris, the US vice president, replaced President Joe Biden as the Democratic presidential nominee less than three weeks ago, derailing the race. The Sept. 10 debate on ABC would be the second of two agreed-upon debates between Biden and Trump, following their June 27 debate on CNN. An Ipsos poll released Thursday found that Harris has widened his lead over Trump since late July. She leads Trump 42% to 37%, compared to a July 22-23 Reuters/Ipsos poll that gave her a 37% to 34% lead over Trump.

Thursday's press conference in Palm Beach was Trump's first public appearance since Harris selected Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as his running mate on Tuesday.

Harris and Walz headlined rallies in the key states of Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin this week, drawing tens of thousands of attendees, another sign of how their late entry into the race has galvanized Democrats. The stop of the Democratic dome on Thursday in a hall of the union came while the campaign said that it sees the working groups as a key element to tilt the scale in the elections.

Yahya Sinwar, the new leader of Hamas, nicknamed "the walking dead"

Yahya Sinwar, the new leader of Hamas, nicknamed "the walking dead"

After an obscure career spent in Israeli prisons and in the internal security apparatus of Hamas, Yahya Sinwar became the leader of the Palestinian movement in the middle of an open war. Sinwar, until now the head of the movement in Gaza, replaces Ismail Haniyeh, whose assassination in Tehran last week raised tensions in the Middle East and raised fears of a coordinated attack on Israel and its regional proxies.

By choosing him as the head of the group, Hamas "sends a strong message to the occupation that Hamas continues its path of resistance," a senior Hamas official told AFP. Sinwar is accused of orchestrating the October 7 attacks, the worst in Israeli history, which left 1,198 dead and 251 hostages taken according to an AFP tally and Israeli official figures.

The day after the attack, the Israeli military declared him a "dead man walking", although Sinwar has not been seen since. The October 7 attack, which was probably planned for a year or two, "surprised everyone" and "changed the balance of forces on the ground," said Leila Seurat of the Center for Arab Research and Studies. Politicians (CAREP) in Paris.

The 61-year-old ascetic is a security agent "par excellence," according to Abou Abdallah, a member of Hamas who spent years alongside him in Israeli prisons.

"He makes decisions in the utmost calm, but it is difficult when it comes to protecting the interests of Hamas," Abu Abdallah told AFP in 2017, after his former cellmate was elected head of Hamas in Gaza.

Punishment of employees

Later on October 7, Israeli army spokesman Lt. Col. Richard Hecht called Sinwar "the face of evil" and declared him a "dead man walking."

Born in the Khan Yunis refugee camp in southern Gaza, Sinwar joined Hamas when Sheikh Ahmad Yassin founded the group around the time the first Palestinian Intifada began in 1987. The following year, Sinwar created the group's internal security apparatus and later headed an intelligence unit tasked with tracking down and ruthlessly punishing — sometimes killing — Palestinians accused of providing information to Israel.

According to a transcript of an interrogation with security officials published in Israeli media, Sinwar confessed to strangling a suspected accomplice with a keffiyeh at a cemetery in Khan Yunis.

A graduate of the Islamic University of Gaza, he learned Hebrew to perfection during his 23 years in Israeli prisons and is said to have a deep understanding of Israeli culture and society.

He was serving four life sentences for the killing of two Israeli soldiers when he became the oldest of 1,027 Palestinians released in exchange for Israeli soldier Gilad Shalit in 2011.

Sinwar then became a senior commander of the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, before taking over as the movement's director general in Gaza. While his predecessor, Haniyeh, had encouraged Hamas' efforts to present a moderate face to the world, Sinwar preferred to bring the Palestinian cause to the forefront through more violent means.

The Ministry of Health in the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip says the devastating air and ground offensive launched by Israel in response to the October 7 attacks has killed at least 39,653 people in the Palestinian territory.

"Radical and pragmatic"

Sinwar dreams of a single Palestinian state uniting the Gaza Strip, the occupied West Bank - controlled by Mahmoud Abbas's Fatah party - and annexing East Jerusalem.

According to the US Council on Foreign Relations, he has vowed to punish anyone who commits to reconciliation with Fatah, the rival political movement with which Hamas engaged in factional fighting after the 2006 elections.

Such a reconciliation remains elusive, but the release of prisoners resulting from November's brief ceasefire agreement with Israel has seen Hamas's popularity soar in the West Bank. Sinwar followed a path that led him to be "radical in military planning and pragmatic in politics," according to Seurat.

"I don't support force for force's sake, but to make negotiations" with Israel, he said.

The Hamas leader was added to the US list of most wanted "international terrorists" in 2015.

Security sources outside Gaza say Sinwar took refuge in the network of tunnels built under the territory to withstand Israeli bombardment.

In November, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant vowed to "find and eliminate" Sinwar, urging Gazans to return Sinwar, adding that "if you have him before us, it will shorten the war."

Iran-Israel tensions: US Navy F/A-18 Super Hornet 'holds ground' ahead of F-22 Raptor deployment in Middle East

Iran-Israel tensions: US Navy F/A-18 Super Hornet 'holds ground' ahead of F-22 Raptor deployment in Middle East

As part of the Pentagon's efforts to protect American troops and help defend Israel against possible attacks by Iran and its proxies, a dozen F/A-18 fighter jets from the aircraft carrier Theodore Roosevelt flew to a military base in the Middle East, a US. . the official told the media.

According to the official, the F/A-18 and an E-2D Hawkeye surveillance aircraft took off from the carrier in the Gulf of Oman on August 5 and arrived at an unidentified military base in the area.

The development comes after reports suggested that the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln had gone to the Middle East to replace the USS Theodore Roosevelt, which has been sailing in the region for some time.

Preparing for an attack, the US also said it was deploying additional naval warplanes, naval cruisers and destroyers that could shoot down incoming ballistic missiles. However, it is intriguing that the naval fighters are stationed at a land base, given that the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) already has fighter jets such as the F-15E Strike Eagle, F-16 Fighting Falcon and A-10 Warthogs. in the area. Additionally, the deployment of naval fighters comes as a dozen F-22 Raptors are said to be en route to the Middle East. These Raptors are said to be stationed at the same base where the Super Hornets are stationed, indicating that their deployment is likely to be temporary.

The official told the media that how long the plane will stay together at the base is unknown. It may depend on what happens in the next few days.

F/A-18 Super Hornets have already been deployed in the region to shoot down missiles fired by Houthi militias based in Yemen following Israel's bombing campaign in Gaza. The Super Hornets have also carried out numerous strikes against the Houthis alongside their British counterparts. In January, for example, F/A-18s from the USS Eisenhower and other ships shot down two anti-ship cruise missiles, a Houthi ballistic missile and 18 drones during a firefight. According to reports, the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, now heading to the Middle East, is carrying EA-18 Growlers, F/A-18E/F Super Hornets, F-35C Joint Strike Fighters, E-2D Hawkeye . reconnaissance and surveillance aircraft, MH-60R/S Seahawk helicopters, and C-2 Greyhound delivery aircraft.

The deployments come after President Joe Biden pledged last week "further US defensive military deployments" in the region, which was welcomed by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The United States is preparing for Iran to carry out its threat of retaliation for the assassination of Ismail Haniyeh, the head of Hamas in Tehran, attributed to Israel. (U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd) Austin ordered adjustments to the U.S. military posture aimed at improving the protection of U.S. forces, increasing defense support for Israel, and ensuring U.S. readiness to respond to different emergency situations," the Pentagon said in a statement.

Following the deaths of former Hamas political chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran and Hezbollah commander Fouad Shukur in Beirut last week, there have been concerns that Iran's retaliation could spark a wider regional conflict beyond Israel's war against to Hamas. Israel is suspected of being behind the two killings after months of bloody attacks in Gaza that have left nearly 40,000 Palestinians dead. Israel has also been embroiled in tensions with Iran and its ally in Lebanon, Hezbollah. This has led to speculation about the possibility of a regional war involving Iran and its proxies on one side and Israel and its Western allies on the other. Iranian officials have made it clear that they will get back. Nasser Kanaani, a spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said that the only way to ensure regional security is to "punish the aggressor and create a deterrent against the adventurism of the Zionist regime."
