The Most Popular Traffic Exchange Colombia changes its stance on US deportation flights following Donald Trump’s tariff demands; US halts sanctions.

The Colombian authorities confirmed they will maintain communication with the United States, stating their intention to establish agreements that uphold the fundamental dignity of those being deported.

On Sunday, Colombia reversed its earlier position regarding the acceptance of deported citizens from the US, after refusing to permit flights in response to Donald Trump introducing sanctions.

This initial refusal led the Trump administration to enforce tariffs and other retaliatory actions against Colombia. Since Trump took office last week, reports about deportation flights from the US have been prominent in the news.

Yielding to Trump’s threat of tariffs, Colombian President Gustavo Petro organized the use of a presidential aircraft to ensure the “dignified return” of Colombian citizens who were being deported, according to a statement from the President’s office.

“The Government of Colombia, led by President Gustavo Petro, has made the presidential plane available to assist in the dignified return of our fellow citizens scheduled to arrive this morning on deportation flights. This action aligns with the Government's dedication to ensuring respectful conditions. Under no circumstance have Colombians, as citizens and rights holders, been or will be exiled from Colombian territory,” the statement expressed.

'Eliminate Everything': Trump Urges Jordan and Egypt to Accept Palestinians from Gaza

Donald Trump, the President of the United States, has proposed a plan to “eliminate” the situation in Gaza and stated on Saturday (local time) that he is urging both Jordan and Egypt to accept Palestinians fleeing from the conflict in the area.

According to CNN, Trump mentioned that he had discussions with the Jordanian king regarding a proposal to construct housing and resettle over a million Palestinians from the Gaza area to other countries.

When asked about his earlier conversation with King Abdullah II of Jordan, Trump noted that he requested the king to accept a larger number of Palestinians into his country.

“I expressed to him my desire for him to welcome more refugees, as I’m observing the entire Gaza Strip at this moment, and it’s chaotic, truly chaotic,” he shared with reporters while on Air Force One, CNN reported.

The President indicated his wish for both Jordan and Egypt to host Palestinians and mentioned that he would discuss this plan with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi the following day.
