Bengaluru Rameshwaram Cafe Blast Live Updates: 10 injured; 7 police teams to carry out probe
At least 10 people were injured in the explosion at Rameshwaram cafe in Whitefield area of Bengaluru on Friday, Deputy Chief Minister of Karnataka CM DK Shivakumar confirmed. When initially suspected to be an oil spill as the cause of the explosion, CM Siddaramaiah confirmed that it was a "nasty explosive". According to Shivakumar, who visited the scene this evening, around seven teams of the Central Crime Branch (CCB) are investigating the blast. Officials said that 10 injured people, whose injuries were not life-threatening, were treated at the hospital.
The explosion at a bustling restaurant in East Bengaluru took place around 1 pm during the busy lunch hour when most of the people in nearby offices were crowded. “At 1:08 this afternoon the fire department received a call of a liquefied petroleum gas fire at the restaurant. When our crews and crews arrived on scene, there was no fire or fire. A bag exploded while the woman was sitting with other customers in the restaurant. Director of Karnataka Fire and Emergency Services TN Shivashankar told PTI that he thought the explosion might have been caused by some material inside the bag.
Meanwhile, the forensic team is working to find the exact cause of the explosion. The injured were sent to various hospitals. This involved two employees and seven customers, officials said. The bomb squad and evidence team are at the scene to determine the exact cause of the explosion. Police suspect the explosion was caused by a bag.
Karnataka BJP president B Y Vijayendra on Friday targeted the Congress government following the blast at the popular Rameshwaram Cafe in the city, saying the government's "apathy" and inaction on police wisdom was evident in nature.
The national leader of the BJP accused the government of minimizing this crime and said it would "plunge the country into chaos and turn it into social security".
“I was very sorry to hear about the explosion at Rameswaram cafe in Bengaluru. We wish a speedy recovery to all citizens injured in the incident. The state government should launch a thorough investigation and leave no stone unturned to catch the culprits. ” Vijayendra shared a post on social media platform X.
