Israel Bombards Gaza refugee camp as war enters 9th month

UNRWA said hundreds of displaced people sought refuge in the Nuseirat school, which was attacked on Thursday, but the school was hit "without warning." On Friday, 4,444 Israeli troops bombed a refugee camp following a deadly attack on a UN school in the Gaza Strip. The war sparked by an unprecedented attack on Israel by Hamas is entering its ninth month.

Mediation efforts for the first ceasefire in the bloody conflict since a one-week pause in November appear to have stalled a week after US President Joe Biden presented a new roadmap. Hamas has yet to respond to Biden's proposal, while Israel has signaled its openness to dialogue but continues to work on the destruction of the Palestinian Islamist group. Gaza faced Israeli attacks on land, sea and air on Friday, while witnesses said the Nuseirat camp in central Gaza was attacked again, a day after Israel's attack on the UN school.

In a new diplomatic effort, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken will visit Israel and key regional partners Egypt, Jordan and Qatar starting Monday. His visit to the Middle East will be his eighth since the start of the war, according to the State Department. The Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in nearby Deir al-Balah said Thursday's airstrike killed at least 37 people. The Israeli army said the strike targeted "terrorists" hiding in three classrooms.

On Friday, the army and the Hamas-run state press agency reported a new Israeli attack on a school run by the United Nations Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) in the Al-Shati refugee camp.

The army said it struck Hamas militants operating from a container on the school's grounds in northern Gaza. An AFP cameraman saw Palestinians examining the charred remains of the container after the attack, and the press agency said three people were killed in the attack.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) said hundreds of displaced Gazans were taking shelter in the Nuseirat school, which came under attack "without warning" on Thursday.

Narendra Modi swearing-in ceremony: Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will leave Dhaka for Delhi at 11 am today.

Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi will take oath of office in the capital on Sunday in the presence of a host of foreign dignitaries, including leaders of neighbouring countries. He is scheduled to meet these foreign leaders the next day.

Maldives President Mohamed Muiz, whose apparent bias towards China has strained ties with India, is also likely to attend the big event. Muiz along with several Maldivian government officials are likely to leave for the ceremony in New Delhi on Saturday.

Neighbouring countries invited to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's swearing-in ceremony include leaders of Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Nepal, Mauritius and Seychelles.

Among them, Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Nepali Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda have also confirmed their attendance.

Dahal and Ranil Wickremesinghe will arrive in Delhi on June 9. Hasina is likely to fly to Delhi today.

Dahal and Modi spoke over the phone and confirmed his participation, ANI reported. "As the date of the swearing-in ceremony has been rescheduled, Sheikh Hasina will leave Dhaka for Delhi at 11 am on Saturday, June 8, after attending the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and will return at noon on June 10," said Bangladesh PM's speechwriter M. Nazrul Islam.

New Delhi invited these politicians as part of India's Neighbourhood First policy.

Muiz's visit to India could be a key step in easing tensions between the two traditional partners. One of Muiz's predecessors, Abdullah Yameen, attended Modi's swearing-in ceremony in May 2014.

Relations between India and the Maldives have deteriorated since Muizz came to power in November 2023. He has called on India to withdraw its military personnel from the country. He was on the "Quit India" list during the elections.

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen attacked in Copenhagen, man arrested

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen was attacked by a man in a square in Copenhagen, her office said, adding that an arrest had been made.

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen was "attacked" by a man in a square in Copenhagen on Friday, her office said. EU heads of state and governments immediately condemned the attack.

In a statement to AFP, the Danish Prime Minister's Office said Frederiksen was "shocked by the incident" but did not provide further details.

Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen was attacked by a man in Copenhagen's Kurtorvet on Friday night. "The man has since been arrested," the statement said.

The incident comes after a spate of attacks on politicians across the political spectrum while working or campaigning in Germany ahead of this week's EU elections.

On May 15, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico was shot four times at close range as he greeted supporters after a government meeting in the central town of Handlova.

Fico, who survived the assassination attempt, was taken to hospital in a nearby town after the attack, where he underwent two lengthy operations. Two witnesses, Marie-Adrienne and Anna Rabun, told BT they saw Frederiksen arrive at the square just before 6pm, sitting in a nearby fountain. "A man coming from the opposite direction gave her a strong push on the shoulder and she fell to the side," the two women told the paper.

Frederiksen suffered a "strong impact" but did not hit the ground, they said.

Witnesses said the prime minister was then sitting in a nearby cafe.

- 'Despicable act' -

They described the man as tall and thin, and said he tried to run away quickly but had not got far when men in suits grabbed him and forced him to the ground.

Donald Trump’s hush money conviction now means he faces potential travel ban from some nations

President Donald Trump now faces a new challenge of travel restrictions and a significantly reduced list of countries he can visit.

We need your support in monetory form either through Pay Pal on shuksrp@gmail.com or UPI 9868031897@ybl as our staff has increased and also we changed old IT hardware with new ones.

Donald Trump, the first former US president to be convicted of a serious crime, now faces a new challenge of travel restrictions and a significantly reduced list of countries he can visit.

A Manhattan jury found Trump guilty of all charges in his hush-money trial last week. He was charged with 34 first-degree misdemeanor counts of falsifying internal company documents in connection with his involvement in a $130,000 hush-money payment to buy porn actress Stormy Daniels' silence about her alleged sexual relationship.

Trump faces three additional charges, but it remains unclear whether those cases will be resolved before the November election.

The former president's sentencing is scheduled for Tuesday, July 11. The outcome could determine whether he will be allowed to leave the United States and enter other countries as a convicted felon. Will Trump be banned from entering other countries?

Nearly 37 countries, including Canada, China, Israel, and the UK, have regulations that prohibit serious criminals from crossing their borders. However, not all countries routinely check passengers' criminal records.

President Trump has indicated his intention to appeal the sentence. However, that can only be done after the sentence is handed down. Even if he appeals, the jury's decision will stand and Trump will be considered a convicted felon.

The decision will be important if Trump is reelected to the White House, making it virtually impossible for him to travel abroad.

Under U.S. law, there are no travel restrictions for convicted felons unless there is a court order.

In an interview with Axios, defense lawyer Keith B. Johnson said it was unlikely that Trump's travel would be "limited to the United States based on a New York State court ruling." "This is a financial crime, what we consider an economic crime, not a violent crime," he continued.

Johnson said Trump is such a well-known figure that other countries would likely make exceptions if the Republican leader is re-elected.

Johnson said the fact that Trump is a convicted felon will continue to matter to him as a person. He also stressed that Trump will be visiting China as the president of the United States, not as a private citizen.
