Oppn not adversary, polls not war,’ says RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, urges new govt to prioritise Manipur

Oppn not adversary, polls not war,’ says RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, urges new govt to prioritise Manipur

Addressing an RSS event in Nagpur, Bhagwat stressed the need to abandon election campaign rhetoric and focus on the country's issues. He also said that a true sevak should not be "arrogant".

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader Mohan Bhagwat expressed concern over the ongoing unrest in Manipur following the outbreak of violence in May last year and stressed the need to establish peace in the northeastern state.

Addressing a group of RSS leaders and trainees in Nagpur, Bhagwat also spoke about the qualities that a true sevak should possess. He said a sevak should be proud of his work but also be "detached" and "free from arrogance".

The RSS chief said the Manipur issue should be given "priority". Manipur had been waiting for peace for a year. It had been peaceful for 10 years. It seemed as if the old gun culture had ended. And suddenly, the conflicts that were created or instigated there are still stoking their fires and crying out for help. Who will pay attention to this? It is our duty to give this top priority," he said.

Speaking for the second time on the issue since violence erupted in the state, Bhagwat also stressed the need to move away from election campaign rhetoric and focus on the issues facing the country.

The RSS chief also stressed that elections should not be viewed as a "war".

"Elections are a consensus-building process. "We have a system where both sides of an issue are represented in a like-minded parliament. Of course, it is difficult to reach such an agreement among people who came there through cut-throat competition. That's why we have to rely on the majority. All contestants have the same goal. But this is a competition, not a war," Bhagwat said.

He continued: "The way things happened, how factions reached the lower ranks, the impact of divisive election strategies, the social and psychological fault lines are completely ignored and organisations like the RSS are needlessly drawn into the same. Technology has spread lies, absolute lies. Are technology and knowledge synonymous?"

"We need to move away from the excitement of elections and think about the problems facing the country," he said.

The RSS "has done our job to galvanise public opinion," the organisation's chief said. "True servants observe decorum." One must perform one's duties efficiently. To strive but not succumb, that is our instinct," he added.

"The people have been given their mission and everything will happen accordingly. Why? How? "The Sangh is not interfering in this," he said.

Bhagwat added that the Sangh tries to shape public opinion after every election and is not obsessed with analysing the results.

On the importance of the opposition, Bhagwat said: "They are the opposition showing a side. Their views should also be made known."

"Virodhi ke jaga pratipaksh kaha je," he said.

"There are two sides, they call it the other side, I call it the other side. He is not an adversary, he should not be seen as an adversary. Woh pratipaksh hai, that means highlighting one side (of the issue)," Bhagwat said.

"That too needs to be taken into consideration. If we have to do something like this... there should be some decency in participating in elections. This courtesy was not observed. Its implementation is necessary as the challenges facing our country are yet to be resolved," he added.

"The same government i.e. the NDA is back in power. It is true that a lot of positive things have happened in the last 10 years... We have progressed in many areas be it economy, defence strategy, sports, culture and technology. But that does not mean that we are now free from challenges..." Bhagwat said.

The Bharatiya Janata Party suffered a defeat in the Lok Sabha elections in Manipur. Both seats in the state ruled by BJP's Biren Singh were elected to the Assembly.

The RSS chief said: "This is the essence of democracy. Like Dr. Ambedkar, spiritual regeneration is essential for great change."

He said a true servant (sevak) is one who does his job but is not proud of having done it. "Do your job but don't be proud of the work you have done," he told RSS members.

"One who observes the bounds of decorum in the performance of his duties, who takes pride in his work but is not attached and has no arrogance - such a person really, in the true sense of the word, deserves to be called a sevak," he added.

Bhagwat acknowledged that "thousands of years of discriminatory practices have created division and even a form of anger."

"Competition is inevitable in elections." People try to push others into the background, but there is a certain dignity in that too. Lies should not be used. The people are elected to sit in parliament and govern our country,” he said.

He said: “Go to parliament and form a consensus on various issues. Our tradition is to form a consensus... Rigvedic rishis understood the human mind... Therefore, they accepted that there can be no 100% unanimity, but still, when society decides on a ‘consensus of opinion’, it becomes a sarchitta. The problem with external ideologies is that they believe they are the only guardians of correctness. ”

"Even the religions and ideas that came into Bharat were followed by some people for various reasons. But there is nothing wrong with our culture because of that. We need to give up the idea that only we are right and others are wrong," he said.

"By thinking, understanding, removing the distortions that have developed over time and realising that opinions and ways can differ. All can be different. We have to consider this country ours, have a committed relationship with it and act with the realisation that all its sons are our brothers," Bhagwat said. "But injustice happens and distance is created between people."

"One thing is to put aside the idea that you are right and everyone else is wrong. There is no need to proselytise or anything like that. All opinions are right and everyone is equal so it's better to stick to your opinion. Respect the opinions of others equally,” he added.

N. Chandrababu Naidu will be sworn in as the chief minister of the southern state on Wednesday, June 12

N. Chandrababu Naidu, who led the Telugu Desaam Party-Bharatiya Janata Party-Janasena coalition to a landslide victory in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly elections, will be sworn in as the chief minister of the southern state on Wednesday, June 12. The swearing-in ceremony will take place at 11.27 am at the Kesarapalli IT Park near Gannavaram airport on the outskirts of Vijayawada. Besides Naidu, other politicians are likely to take oath, including Janasena chief minister Pawan Kalyan and his senior leader N. Manohar, Naidu's son Nara Lokesh and Andhra Pradesh TDP leader Atchan Naidu. Given the strength of the 175-seat Andhra Pradesh Assembly, the cabinet, including the chief minister, can have 26 ministers.

Earlier on Tuesday, Naidu met Andhra Pradesh Governor S. Abdul Nazir at the Raj Bhawan in Vijayawada and formally laid claim to forming the government. He was accompanied by his party's ally, Janasena leader Pawan Kalyan, and Bharatiya Janata Party state president Daggubati Purandeswari.

In the 2014 elections, Naidu became the first chief minister of a divided Andhra Pradesh and served in that position until 2019. He lost the 2019 elections and remained opposition leader until 2024. After a landslide victory in the 2024 elections, winning 164 of 175 parliamentary seats and 21 of 25 Sabha seats, Naidu will oust the YSRCP and return for a fourth term as chief minister.

Who will be attending the swearing-in ceremony?

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP leader JP Nadda and several other politicians are expected to attend the swearing-in ceremony. As per the provisional schedule, PM Modi is expected to arrive at the venue at 10.55 am to attend the swearing-in ceremony which will take place from 11 am to 12.30 pm.

The TDP has reportedly sent invitations to farmers who had provided land for the construction of the Amaravati Capital project and some of those who were allegedly harassed during the previous YSR Congress government.

How can the Philippines "replace" India as the United States' main military force against China

How can the Philippines "replace" India as the United States' main military force against China

How can the Philippines "replace" India as the United States' main military force against China, something Delhi cannot?

As China emerges as the world's economic and military power with the ability to challenge US priorities, the Indo-Pacific region, which includes the Indian Ocean region (IOR), has become a key element of American defense chemistry. If Western powers, led by the United States, attack China at any time, the Indo-Pacific region will become a decisive battlefield.

The Indo-Pacific Initiative involves a debate between the Pentagon and its other structures, capabilities, and goals.

One of the issues that causes disagreement is whether India should be included in the initiative. Those who prefer to exclude India from the Indo-Pacific framework argue that India is an important ally of Russia and has long enjoyed Russian support.

However, the main point of contention is that China has opened a front against India by deliberately disturbing the peace on the Himalayan border. In the end, when Prime Minister Modi agreed to India joining the Quad now, it was a shot in the arm for supporters of the Indo-Pacific Initiative.

India's current defense priority is to modernise, upgrade and develop the Indian Navy to be able to protect its coasts and ports. The Quad countries also adjusted their military structures.

The Quadrilateral Security Dialogue (Quad-4) is an initiative launched by four countries, Australia, India, Japan and the United States, during the Malabar Exercises in the Philippine Sea in 2007.

The Philippines is not yet a member. Quad-4 could not be built effectively because Washington's administration's attitude toward China was inconsistent with the policies of Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd. In fact, Rudd is trying to improve relations with China. In a sense, Quad-4 has been dormant, even dormant, for at least a decade since its launch in 2007. In 2017, the leaders of the Quad met in Manila and decided to create a Quad mechanism with a more comprehensive approach to China.

China's Belt and Road Initiative is the driving force behind the revival of the Quad, and US concerns are also reflected in the term "predatory economics" coined by US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.

India puts more pressure on resurgent Quad-4. Media asked Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar what he would do if India is considered a member of NATO. The Minister said that India does not share the heart of NATO. This clearly shows that India is not willing to join the new cold war against China. India refused to sign the UN resolution against Russia, which NATO was more dissatisfied with than the United States.

The result of India's aggressive approach towards Quad-4 is that the US has withdrawn from Quad-4 and rather formed a Quad Group with the Philippine government.

Finally, US pressure on India to adopt a belligerent attitude towards China will not work because the main purpose of India's participation in the Quad is to promote trade relations with the Quad countries; The most basic assumption is the free movement of ships in India. Ocean. and the South China Sea are guaranteed.

Only time will tell how this group will or will not fare in the changing Indo-Pacific security context.

Hamas says 'booby-trapped' 4 Soldirs of IDF Killed

Four Israeli soldiers killed in Gaza, Hamas says 'booby-trapped'

The Israeli army said on Tuesday that four of its soldiers had been killed in fighting in southern Gaza the previous day, more than eight months into the war with Hamas. The soldiers were "killed in fighting in southern Gaza," the army said in a statement on Monday, without giving further details on the circumstances of the deaths.

Israeli public broadcaster Kan said the soldiers were killed in a building explosion in Rafah, the southernmost city of the Gaza Strip.

On Monday night, Hamas's militant wing, the Ezzedine al-Qassam Brigades, said its fighters had "booby-trapped" a building in the Shabla refugee camp in Rafah.

"The Qassam Mujahideen managed to blow up a booby-trapped house where Zionist forces were holed up... "Members of the (Israeli) military were killed or wounded," the group said in a statement.

The Times of Israel reported that the explosion also wounded seven soldiers, five of them seriously. It said the military death toll since the ground offensive in Gaza began on October 27 was 298, and that countries, including US ally Israel, had spoken out against the operation, fearing for the safety of Palestinian civilians sheltering in Gaza city. Well over a million people have since fled, seeking shelter wherever they can.

The Gaza war was sparked by Hamas' unprecedented attack on Israel on October 7, which left 1,194 people dead, most of them civilians, according to an AFP tally based on official Israeli statistics.

Israel's retaliatory military operations have killed at least 37,124 people in the Gaza Strip, most of them civilians, according to the Health Ministry in the Hamas-controlled area.
