The Most Popular Traffic Exchange Sheikh Muhammad Ali Hammadi, a prominent commander of Hezbollah and long-time fugitive on the FBI's most-wanted list, was killed outside his residence in eastern Lebanon. As reported by the Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar, Hammadi was shot outside his home on Tuesday evening. He held the position of commander in Hezbollah’s western al-Baqaa region and was attacked by assailants who arrived in two separate vehicles.

Despite immediate transportation to a medical facility, Hammadi was declared dead shortly after the incident. The reason for his assassination is still uncertain. While some local sources have suggested that the killing could be related to an ongoing family dispute, no official confirmation has been provided to support this claim. Currently, no individual or organization has taken responsibility for the shooting.

For decades, Hammadi was wanted by the FBI due to his participation in a notable terrorist incident. In 1985, he was the hijacker of Lufthansa Flight 847, a West German airline with 153 people on board, which included multiple American citizens. During this ordeal, one American was subjected to torture and subsequently killed. His actions, along with others targeting Western interests, led to his prominent listing as a wanted criminal by US law enforcement.

Trump aims at birthright citizenship: Here are methods to still obtain US citizenship to achieve the American dream

With Donald Trump focusing on Birthright Citizenship in America, there remain options like naturalization, seeking asylum, or marrying a US citizen that can assist individuals in becoming citizens.

Since taking office as the President of the United States, Donald Trump has begun implementing several actions that he committed to during his campaign. One significant action involves targeting various immigration regulations, including the principle of birthright citizenship. This rule indicates that anyone born within the United States borders automatically receives citizenship based on the doctrine of "jus soli," which translates to the right of the land. As Trump prepares to alter the immigration framework in America, many are concerned that their aspirations of achieving the American dream may have vanished. Nevertheless, there are still viable paths to realize that dream.

Naturalization - An individual over 18 years of age who has been a permanent resident for a minimum of five years and fulfills all other requirements can acquire US citizenship through naturalization.

Marriage to a US citizen - Forming a marriage with a US citizen and residing in the country for three years can lead to citizenship.

Exceptional abilities may lead to a green card - Individuals who possess exceptional skills, especially in Science, Mathematics, Technology, or Engineering, might find more favorable options for citizenship.

Applying for asylum - Those who believe that their home nation is dangerous due to conflict, discrimination, or intolerable situations can seek asylum. After being granted asylum and establishing residence, one may pursue permanent citizenship.

Nonetheless, Indian-American lawmakers have pushed back against President Donald Trump’s executive order related to changes in birthright citizenship. This decision could impact not only undocumented immigrants globally but also students and professionals from India.

Trump's executive order claims that the offspring of noncitizens do not fall “under the jurisdiction” of the United States, meaning they are not protected by the 14th Amendment's long-established constitutional rights.

Trump's initiative concerning birthright citizenship has prompted responses from 22 states, with attorneys general from these states filing lawsuits to prevent President Donald Trump’s efforts to abolish a long-standing immigration practice known as birthright citizenship, which ensures that children born in the US are citizens, independent of their parents' immigration status.

During the inaugural ceremony, Bishop Budde had made a direct plea to US President Donald Trump to show 'mercy' towards the LGBTQ community and migrant laborers.

US President Donald Trump referred to Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde as "nasty" due to her comments made during her sermon at his presidential inauguration on Monday, stating that she "owes" an apology to the public.

Right Reverend Mariann Edgar Budde, the Episcopal bishop of Washington, made a direct request to Trump during the event, urging him to 'show mercy' to the LGBTQ+ population and undocumented migrant laborers.

On his Truth Social platform, Trump remarked, "The so-called Bishop who addressed the National Prayer Service on Tuesday was a radical leftist who strongly despises Trump."

“She had a nasty tone, lacking in both intelligence and persuasive power... She and her church owe an apology to the public!” the president remarked without mentioning Budde's name.

What did Bishop Budde communicate?

In her 15-minute address, Bishop Budde informed the president that millions have placed their trust in him, saying, "you have experienced the guiding hand of a loving God," as the country implores him.

"In the name of our God, I urge you to show compassion for those in our nation who are currently frightened. These include gay, lesbian, and transgender youth from families across the political spectrum, some of whom are genuinely afraid for their safety," she expressed.

China's Syrian Strategy Unravels! Bashar al-Assad's Collapse Sends "Shockwaves" Through Beijing! Analysis

China's engagement in Syria is motivated by a mix of economic interests and security issues. Additionally, its involvement offers a chance to counter the declining sway of Iran and Russia in the area, which could potentially boost Beijing's geopolitical influence as the regional dynamics evolve.

Recent events in Syria have led to a significant transformation in the country's political situation.

Bashar al-Assad's nearly quarter-century in power came to an end in December 2024, as rebel forces, guided by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), seized control of crucial urban centers, including Aleppo, Hama, Homs, and eventually Damascus. As his authority dwindled, Assad was compelled to seek asylum in Moscow.

For China, the demise of Assad signifies more than merely another shift in Middle Eastern authority. The country's diplomatic approach has been calculated and restrained in light of these substantial changes.

Through its representative at the UN, Fu Cong, China communicated its willingness to collaborate with the global community.

"China has consistently advocated for a policy of friendship and partnership with Syria. We are prepared to continue engaging with the international community to ensure a seamless transition for Syria, ultimately leading towards a path of peaceful development," Fu Cong remarked during a Security Council session on January 8. The spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Mao Ning, emphasized the need for a "political resolution" to uphold stability in the area and stressed that all involved parties must focus on Syria’s long-term well-being and strive for a durable political solution.

Syria-China Relations During Assad's Tenure

Throughout the Syrian Civil War, China upheld robust relations with Assad's administration. This support was clearly illustrated by –

Repeated applications of its UN veto power (eight instances) to shield Syria from international sanctions. Analysts point out the importance of this figure, noting that Beijing has utilized its veto authority only 16 times since becoming a permanent member of the UN Security Council. Remarkably, half of those vetoes were made in defense of Assad's regime.

US discusses irregular migration concerns with India while aiming to enhance economic and military partnerships

The recently established administration of Donald Trump has initiated contact with India to strengthen their bilateral connections, particularly in areas such as crucial and innovative technologies, defense collaboration, energy resources, and promoting an open and free Indo-Pacific region.

Nevertheless, the administration has highlighted the importance of advancing economic relations and tackling issues related to irregular migration.

These matters were addressed during a meeting between External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and the newly appointed US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. This gathering marked Rubio's inaugural bilateral discussion, taking place shortly after the Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Washington.

As per a statement from the US Department of State, both parties reaffirmed their mutual commitment to further enhancing the alliance between the United States and India. They explored a variety of subjects, including regional challenges and avenues to deepen the US-India partnership, the statement indicated. "Secretary Rubio also underscored the Trump administration’s intention to collaborate with India in advancing economic connections and addressing the issues associated with irregular migration."

According to research from Pew Research Center, Indians represent the third-largest demographic of undocumented individuals in the United States, numbering approximately 725,000. Reports suggest that around 18,000 Indians are anticipated to face deportation in the upcoming weeks.
