US discusses irregular migration concerns with India while aiming to enhance economic and military partnerships

The recently established administration of Donald Trump has initiated contact with India to strengthen their bilateral connections, particularly in areas such as crucial and innovative technologies, defense collaboration, energy resources, and promoting an open and free Indo-Pacific region.

Nevertheless, the administration has highlighted the importance of advancing economic relations and tackling issues related to irregular migration.

These matters were addressed during a meeting between External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and the newly appointed US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. This gathering marked Rubio's inaugural bilateral discussion, taking place shortly after the Quad Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Washington.

As per a statement from the US Department of State, both parties reaffirmed their mutual commitment to further enhancing the alliance between the United States and India. They explored a variety of subjects, including regional challenges and avenues to deepen the US-India partnership, the statement indicated. "Secretary Rubio also underscored the Trump administration’s intention to collaborate with India in advancing economic connections and addressing the issues associated with irregular migration."

According to research from Pew Research Center, Indians represent the third-largest demographic of undocumented individuals in the United States, numbering approximately 725,000. Reports suggest that around 18,000 Indians are anticipated to face deportation in the upcoming weeks.

Racist, sexist diversity nonsense’: Trump removes first female Coast Guard leader, Admiral Linda Lee Fagan

The Most Popular Traffic Exchange Racist, sexist diversity nonsense’: Trump removes first female Coast Guard leader, Admiral Linda Lee Fagan

President Donald Trump has terminated the employment of Admiral Linda Lee Fagan, who was in charge of the US Coast Guard, pointing to her strong focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts.

Fagan, recognized as the first woman to head a branch of the US Armed Forces, was let go from her role on Tuesday. This decision follows Trump's announcement to abolish DEI programs throughout federal agencies.

Elon Musk, an influential figure in Trump's administration and responsible for cost-reduction strategies, suggested the dismissal in a message on X (previously known as Twitter). Although he did not explicitly confirm the action, Musk criticized DEI initiatives, asserting that "spending resources on racist/sexist DEI nonsense that undermines the US military and border security is no longer tolerable."
