The New York judge overseeing Donald Trump's financial decisions will begin hearing a jury in the former president's impeachment trial on Monday.

New York Supreme Court Justice Juan Merchan is an experienced lawyer who is no stranger to Trump's orbit. He presided over the tax evasion investigation of the Trump Organization, imprisoned former presidential neighbor Allen Weisselberg for his role in the scheme, and oversaw the demise of former Trump adviser Steve Bannon's lies. But the former president's trial for allegedly falsifying business records while repaying money before the 2016 election will have a lasting impact on Mo Qian's long career in state courts.

All eyes will be on the judge who oversaw the first of four criminal cases filed against Trump by state and federal prosecutors last year. The Republican president has denied all accusations.

Mai Chang is described by observers as a "tough" judge, but fair no matter who is in front of her.

VVPAT Hearing in Supreme Court

 

The Election Commission of India told the Supreme Court that there was no conflict between e-voting tickets and Voting Research Trail (VVPAT).
