Hezbollah Fires Missile, Artillery At Israel After Killing Of Military Commander

Hezbollah resumes rocket and artillery fire on Israel after killing of army commander Hezbollah forces resumed rocket and artillery fire on Israel on Friday, ending a lull along the border following the killing of an Israeli army commander by a Lebanese group that had entered Beirut. Hezbollah said it had fired surface-to-air missiles at Israeli fighter jets flying in Lebanese airspace overnight, forcing them to turn back. The army also said it had carried out two artillery and two rocket attacks on military positions in northern Israel. The Israeli army said in a statement that it had successfully intercepted an aerial target that had entered the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights from Lebanon. Israeli airstrikes and artillery bombarded several villages in southern Lebanon on Friday, a day after doctors said Israeli airstrikes killed at least five Syrian migrant workers in southern Lebanon, Lebanese state media reported.

The Israeli army also said it struck two Hezbollah militants in southern Lebanon.

Hezbollah leader Said Hassan Nasrallah said in a speech on Thursday that following Tuesday's Israeli airstrike in Beirut that killed military commander Fuad Shukr, he called for calm to pay tribute to the victims and consider next steps arranged at the border.

An attack on Hezbollah's stronghold of Dahieh, on the southern outskirts of Beirut, also killed an Iranian military adviser and five civilians.

Nasrallah said Hezbollah would retaliate but that it would need to assess its response and resume regular military operations against Israel if it did not.

Hezbollah and the Israeli army have been engaged in a firefight for almost 10 months in parallel with the Gaza war, but the exchanges have been largely confined to the border area.

But attacks since last week have raised fears that the conflict could escalate into a full-scale regional war.

Israel and the United States have accused Hezbollah of killing 12 teenagers in a rocket attack on the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights on July 27. Hezbollah denies the allegations. The U.N. peacekeeping force in Lebanon, known as UNIFIL, told Reuters on Friday it was not investigating the incident because the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights is outside its mission area.

Donald Trump reveals Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg apologised to him, says 'he won't support Democrats'

Zuckerberg called me and said he wouldn't support the Democrats: Donald Trump

Former US President and Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said that Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg called him recently to apologize for the censorship and to assure him that he "won't support any Democrats."

"So Mark Zuckerberg called me. First of all, he called me multiple times. After the event, he called me and said, 'That was really incredible, that was so brave,'" President Trump said in an interview with Fox News.

President Trump said that Zuckerberg told him, "That was really incredible, that was so brave," in an interview with Fox News. According to Trump, Zuckerberg also expressed his respect for Trump and said that he would not support the Democrats in the next election. Trump continued, "So Mark Zuckerberg called me a couple of times. He even announced that he wasn't going to support the Democratic Party because he respected what I did that day. He actually apologized. He said they made mistakes and stuff and they're going to fix the mistakes. But nobody from Google called me," Trump told Fox News.

Earlier in July, Zuckerberg publicly refused to endorse either Trump or Joe Biden, saying he didn't want to take part in the upcoming US presidential election. Zuckerberg's comments come as Silicon Valley heavyweights such as Tesla CEO Elon Musk and venture capitalists Marc Andreessen and Ben Horowitz are inclined to endorse Trump for president.

In an interview with Bloomberg News, Zuckerberg called President Trump's initial reaction after the shooting "tough" and emotional. He believes this sheds light on why Trump resonates with so many voters.

Current Trends

"He actually announced that he's not going to endorse the Democratic Party because he respects what I did that day," President Trump said.

I think they're working on it and they're sorting it out. "I can't imagine him doing what he did five years ago with $500 million," he said.

Wayanad landslide survivors appeal to elephants to be spared: 'Tears were seen in their eyes'

The families who survived Wayanad's Choralmala landslide tell a powerful story of survival, compassion and tacit understanding between humans and animals. Sujatha, a tea plucker at Harrisons Malayalam Tea Estate in Mundakkai for 18 years, described her terrifying ordeal: 'I heard a loud noise and water flooded into our house. The roof of our house fell on us and my daughter was severely injured. I managed to remove a brick from the collapsed wall and got out.'

Sujatha managed to remove a brick from the collapsed wall and escaped. She heard her granddaughter's screams from the rubble and pulled her out with all her might. The rest of the family managed to escape, wading through the raging waters and eventually climbing a nearby hill.

When they reached the hill, they were met with a sight that filled them with horror: a bull elephant and two female elephants were standing just centimetres away from us.

Sujata and her granddaughter clung to an areca nut tree and lay in fear as night fell.

"It was pitch black and a wild bull elephant was standing just half a metre from us. "He seemed scared too. I murmured a wish to the elephant, that we had just survived a disaster, and asked him to lie down for the night and save us," Sujata said. The bull elephant seemed to be aware of their plight and remained calm without harming them.

"We were very close to the bull elephant's feet and he seemed to understand our predicament. We stayed there till 6am and the elephant stayed there too until he was rescued by some people in the morning. "At the end of the night I could see tears in his eyes," she recalled.
