Kolkata doctor rape-murder: What did hospital tell parents on August 9? Details of first 3 calls surface

Kolkata physician rape-slaying: What message did hospital give to guardians on August 9? Specifics of initial 3 communications emerge

Dr. Arunava Dutta Chowdhury, previously overseeing the chest department, informed the media that the phone calls were placed by a non-clinical assistant superintendent.

An audio recording allegedly capturing the initial three dialogues between the trainee doctor’s parents, who was assaulted and killed on August 9 at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, and a faculty member of the institution surfaced on social networking sites on Thursday.

The information in the video, whose accuracy could not be confirmed independently, aligned with what the victim's parents had previously shared with the media. They had received initial information from a woman claiming to be an assistant superintendent at the hospital, though she did not disclose her name.

On August 14, Dr. Arunava Dutta Chowdhury, formerly responsible for the chest department where the supposed crime occurred, informed the media that the calls were placed by Sucharita Sarkar, an assistant superintendent without a medical background.

Sarkar, who has been interrogated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), has not interacted with the press since August 9.

During the initial alleged phone call, the person on the line informed the father of the victim that his daughter is extremely unwell and has been admitted to the medical facility. Can you arrive quickly? When the father inquired about the situation, the lady responded, "She is not feeling well." The physicians are able to determine her condition. "We stumbled upon your number and that's the reason for reaching out to notify you."

In the recording of the alleged second conversation, the person on the phone mentioned: "She is seriously ill and has been taken to the ER." I am unable to articulate what has transpired with her. Only the physicians have the ability to inform you. Can you arrive right away?"

When the father of the victim inquired about the woman's identity, she responded, "I am the assistant superintendent." I do not have a medical degree.

In the third phone conversation, the woman mentioned, “Most likely, she has taken her own life. Perhaps she has passed away. The authorities have arrived and we are all present. Please come quickly." The father of the victim had reportedly left his phone on speaker in order for his wife to also listen to the conversation.

Although the official report stated that the woman passed away between 3am and 5am on August 9, hospital authorities said the body was discovered around 9am in the conference room of the thoracic department on the third level of the emergency wing.

On August 9th, the father of the victim stated that he was first contacted by the hospital at 10:53am, and later received two additional calls before he and his spouse arrived at the medical facility. He failed to specify the timing of the second and third phone calls.

"The lady declined to reveal her identity but mentioned that her daughter was feeling under the weather and advised us to promptly head to the medical center." She introduced herself as an assistant principal and informed me that my daughter was in serious condition. During the third phone call, the victim's father was informed by the caller that his daughter had taken her own life on August 9th.

The actual explanation for why the US remains quiet about the turmoil in Bangladesh and the violence against Hindus.

The actual explanation for why the US remains quiet about the turmoil in Bangladesh and the violence against Hindus.

There have been numerous assaults on followers of Hinduism, the largest minority in a country where Islam is the dominant faith, following the collapse of the government led by Sheikh Hasina. The nation is experiencing a period of turmoil. Nonetheless, the quietness of the United States, which portrays itself as the defender of human rights, is overwhelmingly loud. What is the reasoning for this tactical quietness?

The quietness is overwhelming. The United States, known as the leader in promoting rights and democracy globally, has remained silent on the violence against minority groups in Bangladesh. The most recent demonstration of this prank was the omission of Bangladesh and the mistreatment of Hindus from the summary of the Modi-Biden discussions. Why is the US refraining from criticizing the current situation in Bangladesh under the leadership of Muhammad Yunus and the military-backed caretaker government?

Professionals observe that India and the US, two key partners, do not see eye to eye on Bangladesh, and propose that India should take this into consideration moving forward.

In reality, regarding India's concerns in Bangladesh, the US has been on the contrary side. It made an attempt to stop the independence of Bangladesh from Pakistan in 1971, and later supported political factions that were in favor of Pakistan. It has consistently supported the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), under whose leadership anti-India elements sought refuge in Bangladesh. The United States has been attempting to weaken the Awami League government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for some time.

The US attempted to thwart the emergence of Bangladesh. However, at present, it remains at odds with India when it comes to Bangladesh. Geostrategist Brahma Chellaney stated that it has embraced the recent government change in that location but has not spoken out against continued violations of human rights, such as assaults on minority groups, unjust arrests, coerced resignations, and violent actions towards political prisoners. On the 26th of August, President of the United States, Joe Biden, phoned Prime Minister Narendra Modi after his trip to conflict-ridden Ukraine. The turmoil in Ukraine and Bangladesh were among the topics they talked about.

The Indian statement noted that PM Modi and Biden discussed their mutual worries about the "state of affairs in Bangladesh", while the White House statement remained silent on the matter and concentrated solely on the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.

"They underscored the importance of upholding law and order and guaranteeing the safety and security of minority communities, specifically Hindus, in Bangladesh," as per the official statement released by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs regarding the discussions between PM Modi and Biden.

While countries frequently bring attention to issues they view as significant, experts have observed the calculated omission of the US regarding the turmoil in Bangladesh following Hasina's leadership.

"When Biden phoned Modi yesterday evening, they talked about Bangladesh and expressed worries about the conditions there, according to the Indian statement." According to Chellaney, the White House statement omits any mention of the conversation about Bangladesh.

The period of lawlessness that occurred after Sheikh Hasina left Bangladesh witnessed numerous focused assaults on minority groups, particularly Hindus. PM Modi, in a message of congratulations to Yunus for assuming the leadership of the caretaker administration, emphasized the importance of protecting the well-being of Hindus in Bangladesh.

Modi is scheduled to visit Mumbai and Palghar in Maharashtra on August 30, where he will lay the foundation stone for the Vadhvan Port project.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Mumbai and Palghar in Maharashtra on August 30.

In Mumbai, the Prime Minister is scheduled to speak at the Global Fintech Fest (GFF) at the Jio World Convention Centre. GFF is being collaboratively arranged by the Payments Council of India, the National Payments Corporation of India, and the Fintech Convergence Council.

Afterwards, Modi is scheduled to travel to Palghar, where he will officially open and lay the cornerstone of multiple growth initiatives at the CIDCO site.

I am excited to be in the company of the citizens of Maharashtra on the 30th of August. "I am going to participate in events in Mumbai and Palghar," stated PM Modi in a post on X.

Increase Port

The Prime Minister is set to inaugurate the commencement of construction for Vadhvan Port.

Vadhvan Port, situated close to Dahanu town in Palghar district, is set to become one of the biggest deep-sea ports in India, offering direct links to global shipping lanes, resulting in decreased travel times and expenses.

The complete expense of this undertaking amounts to roughly Rs. 76,000 hundred crores. The goal is to create a top-notch marine entrance that will enhance the nation's commerce and financial development by serving big container ships, providing greater depths, and accommodating extremely large cargo vessels.

With cutting-edge technology and modern infrastructure, the harbor will include deep docks, effective cargo processing capabilities, and contemporary port administration systems.

Fishing assignments

The Prime Minister is also set to unveil and lay the cornerstone of 218 fisheries initiatives valued at approximately ₹1,560 crores, with the goal of strengthening the industry's infrastructure and output nationwide.

Countrywide Launch of Boat Communication

- Modi is set to inaugurate the nationwide implementation of Boat Communication and Assistance system with an estimated cost of approximately Rs. 360 crores.

Equivalent: 360 crore.

- In this initiative, 100,000 transponders will be gradually placed on automated and motorized fishing boats in 13 coastal regions and administrative divisions.

The ship's communication and support system is homegrown technology created by ISRO, which will aid in setting up two-way communication when fishermen are out at sea and also assist in rescue missions and guarantee the safety of fishermen.

Mamata Banerjee responds to criticism from BJP: Denies ever making threats to doctors.

Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal, claimed on Thursday that a false information campaign was launched against her following her speech the day before. She stated that she did not speak negatively about medical students or their protest following the rape and murder of a doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata.

In a lengthy post on X, she stated that she observed a harmful false information campaign circulating in various forms of media, including print, electronic, and digital, following a speech she delivered at a recent student event.

Allow me to clearly state that I have not said anything negative about the (medical etc.) students or their actions. I am completely in favor of their cause. They are truly authentic in their actions. Some individuals have falsely accused me of making threats towards others, but that is not true. She went on to state that the accusation was entirely untrue.

She stated that she criticized the BJP in her address due to their actions that were undermining democracy in West Bengal.

I have criticized the BJP. I have raised concerns about them because, with the backing of the Indian government, they pose a threat to the democracy in our state and are attempting to incite chaos. She mentioned that they are attempting to incite chaos with the Centre's backing, and she has spoken out against them.

There are individuals who believe that this location is in Bangladesh. I have a deep affection for Bangladesh; the people there communicate in a similar manner to us and embrace our cultural traditions. Keep in mind that Bangladesh and India are individual and distinct countries. Modi Babu is utilizing his political party to ignite a situation here. She warned that if Bengal, Assam, North-East, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Delhi are set on fire, there will be consequences. "We will overthrow you from power," she declared.

In response to the comment, the BJP today drew a comparison between her and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

The FBI has issued new images of the attempted assassination of Trump

The FBI has issued new images of the attempted assassination of Trump and has determined that there is no involvement from a foreign entity.

An attempt was made on Donald Trump's life by Thomas Crooks, who fired several gunshots from an AR-15-style rifle at a rally. One of the shots narrowly missed hitting Trump's ear. The gunman positioned himself on the rooftop of a factory approximately 130 yards from the stage at Butler Farm Show grounds.

The FBI, the investigative agency of the United States government, has disclosed that Thomas Crooks, the man who attempted to assassinate Donald Trump at a Republican rally in Pennsylvania last month, acted independently.

The FBI stated that there is no indication of any foreign influence in the investigation. The investigating agency, however, stated that the reason for the attempted assassination is still unknown.

The FBI revealed that Thomas Crooks, aged 20, has a diverse range of beliefs based on his browsing history. They also uploaded pictures of the weapon used and indicated that they had discovered Improvised Explosive Devices or IEDs in his car.

The FBI disclosed that Thomas Crooks had conducted over 60 searches on the Republican presidential candidate and his Democratic opponent, President Joe Biden. The shooter's internet searches go back as early as September 2023. After an exhaustive search lasting almost a year, the shooter decided to sign up for the Trump rally. The FBI stated that the gunman had put in a significant amount of effort and planning to target a large event before ultimately selecting the Republican presidential candidate's rally in Pennsylvania in July as his final target.

Kevin Rojek, the top official in western Pennsylvania for the FBI, stated that there was a thorough and prolonged planning of an attack on various events or targets.

According to Mr. Rojek, Crooks became extremely fixated on the Trump rally when it was announced, viewing it as a potential target.
