The actual explanation for why the US remains quiet about the turmoil in Bangladesh and the violence against Hindus.

There have been numerous assaults on followers of Hinduism, the largest minority in a country where Islam is the dominant faith, following the collapse of the government led by Sheikh Hasina. The nation is experiencing a period of turmoil. Nonetheless, the quietness of the United States, which portrays itself as the defender of human rights, is overwhelmingly loud. What is the reasoning for this tactical quietness?

The quietness is overwhelming. The United States, known as the leader in promoting rights and democracy globally, has remained silent on the violence against minority groups in Bangladesh. The most recent demonstration of this prank was the omission of Bangladesh and the mistreatment of Hindus from the summary of the Modi-Biden discussions. Why is the US refraining from criticizing the current situation in Bangladesh under the leadership of Muhammad Yunus and the military-backed caretaker government?

Professionals observe that India and the US, two key partners, do not see eye to eye on Bangladesh, and propose that India should take this into consideration moving forward.

In reality, regarding India's concerns in Bangladesh, the US has been on the contrary side. It made an attempt to stop the independence of Bangladesh from Pakistan in 1971, and later supported political factions that were in favor of Pakistan. It has consistently supported the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), under whose leadership anti-India elements sought refuge in Bangladesh. The United States has been attempting to weaken the Awami League government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for some time.

The US attempted to thwart the emergence of Bangladesh. However, at present, it remains at odds with India when it comes to Bangladesh. Geostrategist Brahma Chellaney stated that it has embraced the recent government change in that location but has not spoken out against continued violations of human rights, such as assaults on minority groups, unjust arrests, coerced resignations, and violent actions towards political prisoners. On the 26th of August, President of the United States, Joe Biden, phoned Prime Minister Narendra Modi after his trip to conflict-ridden Ukraine. The turmoil in Ukraine and Bangladesh were among the topics they talked about.

The Indian statement noted that PM Modi and Biden discussed their mutual worries about the "state of affairs in Bangladesh", while the White House statement remained silent on the matter and concentrated solely on the conflict between Ukraine and Russia.

"They underscored the importance of upholding law and order and guaranteeing the safety and security of minority communities, specifically Hindus, in Bangladesh," as per the official statement released by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs regarding the discussions between PM Modi and Biden.

While countries frequently bring attention to issues they view as significant, experts have observed the calculated omission of the US regarding the turmoil in Bangladesh following Hasina's leadership.

"When Biden phoned Modi yesterday evening, they talked about Bangladesh and expressed worries about the conditions there, according to the Indian statement." According to Chellaney, the White House statement omits any mention of the conversation about Bangladesh.

The period of lawlessness that occurred after Sheikh Hasina left Bangladesh witnessed numerous focused assaults on minority groups, particularly Hindus. PM Modi, in a message of congratulations to Yunus for assuming the leadership of the caretaker administration, emphasized the importance of protecting the well-being of Hindus in Bangladesh.
