The Junior Doctors' Forum in West Bengal organized a demonstration in Kolkata today to seek justice for a young doctor who was brutally assaulted and killed at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. 

The Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sharma, responded to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's statement about Bengal and Assam burning by saying, "Didi, how dare you threaten Assam?" In a social media post, he stated, "Didi, how dare you threaten Assam? Don't give us menacing looks." Don't even attempt to ignite India with your ineffective political strategies. "It is not fitting for you to use language that divides people." 

A few hours ago, during a speech in Kolkata, West Bengal's Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of instigating violence in Bengal regarding the rape and murder of a woman doctor in Kolkata. She cautioned that if Bengal is set on fire, other states like Assam, North-East, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Delhi will also face unrest and possible political repercussions for the Prime Minister.

The vicious sexual assault and killing of a female medical student at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital caused widespread anger across the nation. The occurrence rattled the entire country, and ever since then numerous demonstrations have been organized calling for fairness for the individual who was harmed. 


Today, the Junior Doctors' Forum of West Bengal organized a demonstration in Kolkata to seek justice for a young doctor who was raped and killed at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. 


The protest aligns with the BJP's demand for a 12-hour shutdown in Bengal on Wednesday to draw attention to the increasing anger within the healthcare sector regarding the necessity for enhanced safety protocols and timely legal proceedings. 


BJP workers carried out a demonstration in Asansol and were observed obstructing train tracks. 


On August 27th, there was pandemonium in Kolkata as security forces fired tear gas, deployed water cannons, and employed baton charges to scatter demonstrators on Howrah Bridge heading towards the West Bengal State Secretariat Nabanna amidst escalating unrest over the rape-murder case. 


On August 25, Parimal Dey, a teacher from Alipurduar in West Bengal who received the Banga Ratna award from West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in 2019, has opted to give back the award to show dissatisfaction with the state government's response to the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital rape-murder case.
