Ukraine launched a large-scale drone attack on Russia on Wednesday, with air defense units destroying three drones about 38 km (24 miles) south of the Kremlin and 15 over the border region of Bryansk, Russian officials said.
Three attack drones headed for Moscow were shot down over the city of Podolsk in the Moscow region, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said on the Telegram messaging app. "According to preliminary data, there are no damages or casualties in the place where the debris fell," said Sobyanin. No casualties or damage have yet been reported after the drone attack in the border region of Bryansk in southwestern Russia, Alexander Bogomaz, the governor of the region, wrote on Telegram. Russia's official news agency RIA also said two drones were shot down over the Tula region, which borders the Moscow region to the north. Separately, Vasily Golubev, governor of the Rostov region in southwestern Russia, said air defense had destroyed a missile fired by Ukraine over the region, which did not cause injuries. It is unclear how many drones and missiles were launched by Ukraine in total. Reuters was unable to independently verify this information. Ukraine had no immediate comment.
