Army tactical drone accidentally crosses Line of Control, lands in Pakistan

An Army tactical drone engaged in a routine surveillance mission inadvertently crossed the Line of Control and landed in Pakistan, sources said. The Indian Army is expected to hold talks with the Pakistan Army to resolve the situation after the incident. An Indian Army tactical drone inadvertently crossed the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri sector and landed in Pakistan on Friday, sources told. The Pakistani military said it recovered the drone.

The event took place at 09:30. Sources said the army drone was engaged in a routine surveillance mission when the incident occurred. The Indian Army should engage with the Pakistan Army in discussions at the Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) level to resolve the situation. The incident occurred two days after an Indian Air Force (IAF) fighter jet encountered a technical malfunction that led to the inadvertent release of a "stock air" near the Pokhran firing range in the district of Rajasthan's Jaisalmer, officials said.

According to officials, the object released was a practice bomb intended for practice dropping bombs on designated targets. During its launch, the practical bomb fell in an open area, causing an explosion and creating a crater at the crash site near the border with Pakistan, they said. There are no reports of casualties or property damage. An investigation has been opened to clarify the cause of the technical problem that led to the involuntary release of the air reserve.

An air reserve in combat aircraft refers to any external equipment or cargo that can be attached to the aircraft for various missions.
