Who is the Deadpool Killer? Wade Wilson sentenced to death for ‘atrocious and cruel’ murders of 2 Florida women
Wade Wilson, also known as the Deadpool Killer, was given the death penalty on Tuesday, August 27, for the brutal murders of two Florida women. The 30-year-old murderer, who has tattoos and is from Fort Myers, showed no emotion as Judge Nicholas Thompson sentenced him to death in Lee Circuit Court.
The proof indicates that the killings were brutal, atrocious, and merciless. Circuit Judge Nicholas Thompson stated to the courtroom that the second murder was planned and deliberate. This was reported by the New York Post.
In June, Wilson was convicted of murdering Kristine Melton, 35, and Diane Ruiz, 43, on a night in October 2019. The jury suggested that he be given the death penalty as punishment.
Who exactly is Wade Wilson?
Wilson has the same name as the Marvel anti-hero popularized by Ryan Reynolds. According to prosecutors, he strangled Melton in her home for the first time after a drug-induced sexual encounter on that memorable night. Afterward, he took Melton's vehicle without permission and used the victim's phone to contact his girlfriend, Melissa Montanez, who is 41 years old. Afterward, he proceeded to attack her, but she declined to get into the vehicle.
Wilson encountered Ruiz in Cape Coral, where she was seeking directions. He asked Ruiz to get in the car, then proceeded to strangle her and toss her out of the car. During the trial, it was said that he came back and ran over Ruiz again until she was completely crushed.
In court, Assistant State Attorney Andreas Gardiner described the case as being motivated by a desire to kill for the sake of killing. "Strangulation represents life slipping away from someone's grasp."
While serving his five-year sentence, Wilson was inundated with numerous explicit photos and romantic letters. This strange phenomenon is not rare, as infamous serial killers like Ted Bundy, Jeffrey Dahmer, and Richard Ramirez were some of the violent individuals who garnered attention while behind bars.
The judge in Wilson's case was presented with numerous letters advocating for him to disregard Wilson's tattooed appearance, as many believed that he was a changed person when taking medication. Wilson's lawyers argued that his drug addiction caused brain damage and that he struggled with feelings of abandonment due to being given up for adoption by his biological parents.
The killer's adoptive parents pleaded with the court to not sentence him to death. The parents wrote in a letter that they believe their son's humanity remains intact and pleaded for him not to be taken away.
Moreover, Wilson was convicted of grand theft, breaking into a home, assault, and minor theft.
According to Melton's cousin, who goes by the name Samantha Kelly, the period between the deaths and the sentencing seemed like an unbearable five years. Felix Ruiz, the father of Ruiz, expressed his desire to witness Wilson's execution. Felix expressed regret for not being able to tell her he loved her, as reported by The News-Press. I long for her.
