Why is PM Modi taking a 20-hour train journey instead of a flight for a 7-hour visit to Ukraine? During his visit to Ukraine, Prime Minister Modi will meet President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. During Prime Minister Modi's visit, important defense agreements between the two countries are also expected. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is currently visiting Poland. After this, PM Modi will visit Ukraine on August 23. However, instead of taking a flight to Kiev, he travels from Poland to Ukraine on a special train.

The train, known as Train Force One, is known for its luxury facilities and world-class service. Interestingly, PM Modi will undertake this 20-hour overnight journey for his seven-hour visit to the Ukrainian capital. The reason for this long train journey is that all airports in Ukraine are closed due to the war between Russia and Ukraine. Therefore, traveling by train is considered a safe option. Prime Minister Modi will leave for Kiev on Thursday evening local time for a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. During Prime Minister Modi's visit, important defense agreements between the two countries are also expected.

PM Modi is not the only one traveling to Ukraine on the Force One train. Several other international figures traveled on this train during the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia. Earlier, US President Joe Biden visited Ukraine on this special train. In 2022, French President Emmanuel Macron with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and former Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi visited Ukraine on this train.

Originally built in 2014 for tourists in Crimea, this train has a beautiful and modern interior that resembles a high-end hotel on wheels. The train has a large table for important meetings, a soft sofa and a wall-mounted TV. Arrangements were also made for sleep and rest. The train has advanced security measures to protect its VIP passengers. From armored windows to secure communication systems, Train Force One is designed to handle the toughest scenarios. The train is equipped with surveillance systems, a secure communication network and a dedicated security team.
