Lebanon crisis: Israel further intensifies bombardment in Lebanon, launching twelve airstrikes on Beirut's southern suburb on Saturday. Additionally, Israel struck a Palestinian refugee camp in the north for the first time.

Local media reported that Lebanese officials described some of the strikes as "very violent." Israeli enemy warplanes carried out four very violent strikes on the southern suburbs of Beirut, along with one strike on the Chweifat area, as reported by Lebanon's National News Agency and confirmed by AFP. This escalation of attacks coincides with reports in Israeli media about military preparations for a potentially "significant" strike on Tehran, following an earlier barrage of approximately 200 missiles on Israeli targets. The recent strikes in Beirut on Saturday night caused loud explosions throughout the city and illuminated the sky with flashes of red and white for nearly half an hour.

The incidents occurred during a period of sustained Israeli bombings in Beirut, a recognized stronghold of the Iran-supported militant organization Hezbollah. The Israeli armed forces reported the elimination of over 400 Hezbollah combatants following the commencement of ground maneuvers in southern Lebanon. "Since the commencement of the ground operation, our forces have successfully neutralized approximately 440 terrorists through ground and aerial operations, which includes the elimination of 30 commanders of different hierarchies," Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, Israeli military spokesman, stated during a televised briefing.

Amid the continued airstrikes, the Israeli army has reiterated its call for residents to evacuate from the southern suburbs of Beirut." "For the safety of yourself and your family, it is imperative that you evacuate the specified buildings and their vicinity and distance yourselves by a minimum of 500 meters," stated spokesperson Avichay Adraee, quoted by AFP. According to Lebanese authorities, Hashem Safiddine, the potential successor to the deceased Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, has been unresponsive since Friday, as reported by Reuters. During its anti-Iranian Lebanon group campaign, Israel conducted a sizable attack on Beirut's southern suburbs targeting Safiddine on Thursday night. In Lebanon, numerous individuals, including Palestinian refugees, persisted in escaping the escalating conflict in the area.

Simultaneously, global demonstrations commemorated the upcoming anniversary of the Gaza war's commencement. The Israel Defence Forces (IDF) reported the dismantling of a 250-meter terrorist tunnel in southern Lebanon on Saturday. Per the Israeli military, the tunnel was intended for use in an invasion of Israel by Hezbollah's Radwan Forces. Israel is currently at a heightened state of readiness in anticipation of the anniversary of Hamas's October 7 attack, which resulted in the deaths of at least 1,200 Israelis and sparked a significant conflict. Prior to October 7, Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, a spokesman for the Israeli military, stated during a televised briefing that additional forces had been prepared in anticipation of potential attacks on the domestic front.

French President Emmanuel Macron urged a cessation of arms shipments to Israel for deployment in Gaza, while also condemning Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's deployment of troops for ground operations in Lebanon. Netanyahu reacted strongly to Macron's statements, labeling them as "shameful". "In the battle against the forces of savagery led by Iran, it is imperative for all civilized nations to unequivocally support Israel." However, President Macron and several other western leaders are currently advocating for an arms embargo on Israel.

It is disappointing to see their actions. Is Iran implementing an arms embargo on Hezbollah, the Houthis, Hamas, and other proxies? No, it is not. The Axis of Terror remains united, while nations claiming to oppose this coalition call for an arms embargo against Israel. Netanyahu expressed his disappointment, stating, "What a disgrace."

In accordance with the guidance of UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the nation has initiated a national relief campaign to aid Lebanon and its citizens during the current crisis, known as "UAE stands with Lebanon," as reported by ANI.

In response to the UAE President's instructions to deliver a prompt USD 100 million aid package to Lebanon, the UAE collaborated with the World Health Organisation (WHO) to send a plane carrying 40 tons of urgent medical assistance to Lebanon.

Donald Trump's security strengthened for his return to site of assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania

Donald Trump's security detail was strengthened for his return to the site of the assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania. He held a second rally in the area with increased security measures in place. He visited the region approximately three months following an attempted shooting by a 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks during a rally.

The enhanced security measures within the ex-president's protection team were prominently displayed, indicating a proactive stance against any potential incidents recurring.

Security personnel at Trump's rally

A perimeter of steel and a tall glass barrier were erected in front of the speaker's podium during the event. The glass at the speaking location of JD Vance, Donald Trump's running mate, was bulletproof. The ring of steel provided protection for the 50,000 to 60,000 individuals in attendance at the rally.

The building from which Crooks fired his shot was shielded by tractor-trailers, a large grassy perimeter, and a fence. Snipers were stationed at the top of every visible building as Vance greeted the crowd at the rally. Officers were patrolling the perimeter of the Butler Farm Show grounds, utilizing a drone for aerial surveillance of the rally. The placement of the bleachers was also adjusted, moving from behind Trump to the flanks. Corey Comperatore was fatally shot on the bleachers intended for Trump during the previous incident.

The firefighter, who sacrificed himself to protect his family from the gunshots on the bleachers, was commemorated at the subsequent rally. His jacket was prominently displayed and adorned with flowers, according to a report from Daily Express US. The armed law enforcement officers and camouflaged personnel positioned on rooftops served as evidence of the increased security protocols in place for this occasion.

S Jaishankar ruled out the possibility of India-Pakistan talks at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation

S Jaishankar ruled out the possibility of India-Pakistan talks at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation

S Jaishankar has ruled out the possibility of India-Pakistan talks at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO). He will be attending a conclave of the SCO in mid-October. Despite this, he stated, "But, you know, since I'm a courteous and civil person, I will behave myself accordingly." Jaishankar also indirectly criticized Pakistan for hindering the progress of the SAARC initiative.

He mentioned, "At the moment, SAARC is at a standstill. There have been no meetings due to one member of SAARC engaging in cross-border terrorism against another member." The presence of terrorism is deemed unacceptable, and if a neighboring country persists in such actions, normal business within SAARC cannot continue as usual. The lack of SAARC meetings in recent years does not signify a halt in regional activities.

Over the past 5-6 years, there has been increased regional integration in the Indian subcontinent," he noted. India has stated its position that bilateral dialogues with Pakistan will not occur until the cessation of cross-border terrorism. Recently, India announced that its minister will participate in a Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) conclave in Pakistan in mid-October.
