S Jaishankar ruled out the possibility of India-Pakistan talks at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation

S Jaishankar has ruled out the possibility of India-Pakistan talks at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO). He will be attending a conclave of the SCO in mid-October. Despite this, he stated, "But, you know, since I'm a courteous and civil person, I will behave myself accordingly." Jaishankar also indirectly criticized Pakistan for hindering the progress of the SAARC initiative.

He mentioned, "At the moment, SAARC is at a standstill. There have been no meetings due to one member of SAARC engaging in cross-border terrorism against another member." The presence of terrorism is deemed unacceptable, and if a neighboring country persists in such actions, normal business within SAARC cannot continue as usual. The lack of SAARC meetings in recent years does not signify a halt in regional activities.

Over the past 5-6 years, there has been increased regional integration in the Indian subcontinent," he noted. India has stated its position that bilateral dialogues with Pakistan will not occur until the cessation of cross-border terrorism. Recently, India announced that its minister will participate in a Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) conclave in Pakistan in mid-October.
