The Lawrence Bishnoi gang issued a warning regarding assistance to actor Salman Khan

The Lawrence Bishnoi gang has taken responsibility for the murder of Baba Siddique and issued a warning regarding assistance to actor Salman Khan, near whose residence warning shots have already been fired. Speculation of a Bishnoi gang connection to the crime arose after Mr. Siddique, a former Maharashtra minister and three-time MLA, was killed near his son's office in Bandra East on Saturday night, following the resolution of a conflict between Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan at a party hosted by Baba Siddique in 2013. Confirmation of Siddique's death was made public on Sunday through a Facebook post by Shibu Lonkar, who is believed to have ties to the Bishnoi gang as Shubham Rameshwar Lonkar.

Lonkar's post asserted Siddique's assassination was due to his alleged connections with India's most wanted terrorist Dawood Ibrahim, his proximity to Salman Khan, and the passing of Anuj Thapan while in police custody following the shooting outside Khan's residence. Thapan was discovered deceased on May 1 within the Mumbai Crime Branch lock-up. The police determined his death as suicide, while his family alleged he had been tortured while in custody.

"We harbor no ill will towards anyone, but anyone supporting Salman Khan and the Dawood gang should settle their scores," Lonkar wrote in a Hindi Facebook post. Police are currently verifying the authenticity of the post. Siddique, known for hosting lavish parties, resolved a five-year-long cold war between Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan at his 'iftar' party in 2013. According to police sources, at least two public figures have been targeted by the Bishnoi group due to their perceived association with Salman Khan since the previous year. Mr. Khan visited the hospital where Siddique was admitted after being shot on Saturday and also went to his residence on Sunday.

In November 2023, shots were fired at the house of Punjabi singer Gippy Grewal in Canada's Vancouver, reportedly by the Bishnoi gang who claimed they did so because Grewal had praised Khan and treated him "like a brother." Grewal clarified that he had only met the actor twice. In September of this year, shots were fired near the house of another Punjabi singer, AP Dhillon, in Vancouver. Rohit Godara, a known associate of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, claimed responsibility for orchestrating the shooting. The termination occurred subsequent to the release of Mr. Dhillon's video for his song 'Old Money', which featured Salman Khan.

The Bishnoi gang, known for claiming responsibility in the murder of musician Sidhu Moose Wala in 2022, expressed their desire to harm Salman Khan due to his alleged involvement in the shooting of blackbucks at Bawad in Mathania near Jodhpur in September 1998 while filming 'Hum Saath Saath Hain'. This alleged incident offended the Bishnoi community, who revere the blackbuck as sacred. Lawrence Bishnoi declared during a court appearance in 2018: "We will eliminate Salman Khan in Jodhpur." Once action is taken, it will be known by all. As of the present moment, I have not committed any offenses, yet I am being unjustly accused of crimes.
