A 3% increase in Dearness Allowance for government employees

A 3% increase in Dearness Allowance for government employees has been approved before Diwali. This decision provides significant relief to central government employees during the festive period. The central government is planning to raise the dearness allowance (DA) for its millions of employees and pensioners by 3%, bringing the total to 45% from the previous 38%. The decision was made during a cabinet meeting this morning, occurring several weeks before Diwali. This development provides significant relief to central government employees during the holiday season. DA is provided to government employees and pensioners as a measure to offset rising prices. Revised semi-annually, this stipend is determined according to the most recent consumer price index for industrial workers.
