US President Joe Biden marked the occasion of Diwali at the White House, where he addressed a gathering of over 600 Indian American congressmen, executives, and influential figures. During the event, Biden expressed his pride in Vice President Kamala Harris and lauded her achievements.
Reported by news agency PTI, the celebration was held on Monday and showcased the President's appreciation for the Diwali festivities. In my capacity as President, I have had the privilege of hosting the largest Diwali receptions in the history of the White House.
To me, this holds significant importance. "As a Senator, Vice President, and President, South Asian Americans have played vital roles on my team," stated the President of the United States during his address to Indian American congressmen, officials, and corporate executives nationwide.
"From Kamala to Dr. Addressing many of you present here today, I am proud to have honored my pledge to have an administration that reflects the diversity of America," remarked Joe Biden. Biden's address was prefaced by introductory remarks from Indian American youth activist Shrusti Amula and speeches from Vice Admiral Vivek H. Murthy, the US Surgeon General; and Sunita Williams, the retired Navy officer and NASA Astronaut, who delivered a recorded video message from the International Space Station.
