Israel has completed air strikes on military targets in Iran, as confirmed by Israel. Iran's state TV also reported hearing strong explosions around the capital, with no official comment on their source. Israel's military announced that "precise strikes" were launched on Iranian military targets early Saturday morning. 

The airstrikes targeting Iran were carried out in retaliation for a prolonged series of assaults originating from Tehran. Israel has stated that the air strikes on military installations in Iran have concluded. Iran's state television also verified that multiple powerful explosions were heard near the capital, though no official statement has been made regarding the origin of the explosions.

Several explosions were heard in the capital Tehran a few hours later, according to Iranian state media, attributed to the activation of air defence systems. Fox News reported that the White House was informed shortly before Israel conducted air strikes on Iran. The United States declared that Israeli strikes on military targets in Iran were a defensive measure in response to Tehran's earlier ballistic missile attack. 

The White House National Security Council spokesman, Sean Savett, stated that the targeted strikes on military targets were a form of self-defense and retaliation for Iran's ballistic missile attack on Israel on October 1. A US defence official, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed that the United States had been informed in advance and had no involvement in the strikes. The official did not disclose the timeframe of the United States' advance notification or the details of Israel's information sharing. White House officials subsequently stated that President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris had been informed.
