Elderly BJP figure LK Advani, who is 97 years old, was taken to Apollo Hospital in Delhi Saturday morning. Following a health issue, Advani was swiftly transported to the medical facility by his relatives. Medical professionals have stated that his condition is presently stable. Advani has been suffering from health challenges related to his age and has made several trips to the hospital this year. 

Previously, in June, Advani was admitted to AIIMS to receive care in the urology department. He was subsequently hospitalized at Apollo in July and again in August for comparable health matters. 

LK Advani is among the founding figures of the BJP and an esteemed statesman in the political landscape of India. He was born on November 8, 1927, in Karachi (which is now part of Pakistan), and became a member of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in 1942 before venturing into politics via the Jana Sangh. He was instrumental in the development of the BJP and held the role of national president several times between 1986 and 2005.

For fifty years, the most striking emblem of India’s most significant military triumph was a snapshot of the Pakistani army affirming the Instrument of Surrender in Dhaka on December 16, 1971. 

It has recently been revealed that this image has been taken down from the office of the army chief, where it had proudly resided for many years, often serving as the backdrop against which visiting generals and foreign dignitaries posed for photographs. 

The new addition is an artwork—“inspired by the teachings of the Mahabharata,” as per defense sources—that depicts tanks and helicopters situated along the banks of what resembles Pangong Lake in Ladakh, overseen by a warrior in a chariot, a sage dressed in saffron, and a bird. 

A senior official from the defense ministry communicated via WhatsApp to this publication, justifying the decision by asserting that the new semi-mythical artwork highlighted the technological advancements of the Indian military and its “everlasting dedication to righteousness.” 

“The painting Karam Kshetra — Field of Deeds was created by Lt Col Thomas Jacob of 28 MADRAS. This artwork symbolizes the enduring commitment of the Indian Army to righteousness, based on the teachings of the Mahabharata,” it stated. 

“It depicts the Army as a protector of Dharma…. This inspiration draws from the strategic and philosophical insights of Chanakya, whose principles steer the Army’s methods of leadership, diplomacy, and combat.” 

Evidently, the painting also “illustrates how the contemporary Indian Army is armed with state-of-the-art systems, ensuring seamless collaboration across land, air, and maritime domains….” 

While India’s army may not have possessed “state-of-the-art systems” in 1971, the manner in which it executed the 13-day conflict has become legendary.

At least 10 farmers sustained injuries when law enforcement utilized tear gas and water cannons to break up their assembly at the Haryana-Punjab border today. A contingent of 101 farmers recommenced their 'Delhi chalo' foot procession at noon, urging the government to fulfill their requests, which include a legal assurance for the Minimum Support Price (MSP). 

Congress figure and wrestler, Bajrang Punia, allied with the farmers at the Shambhu border. "On one side, the government claims it is not obstructing the farmers, yet on the other side, they are deploying tear gas and other such measures. It feels like it is the border with Pakistan. When leaders go to Delhi for protests, do they ask for permission?" he stated. 

This marks the third effort by the protesting farmers to advance towards the national capital since December 6. Previously, they were denied passage by law enforcement in Haryana on December 6 and December 8. Prior to their intended march today, the Haryana administration halted mobile internet access and bulk SMS services in 12 villages of Ambala until December 17 to curb the spread of false information. The order affects the following villages - Dangdehri, Lehgarh, Manakpur, Dadiyana, Bari Ghel, Choti Ghel, Lharsa, Kalu Majra, Devi Nagar (Hira Nagar, Naresh Vihar), Saddopur, Sultanpur, and Kakru. 

In anticipation of the planned march, Haryana's law enforcement set up extensive barricades to obstruct farmers from advancing towards Delhi. The Ambala police had previously stated that the farmers could proceed to Delhi only with permission from the Delhi administration.

As soon as Arjun approached her, Sneha enveloped him in a heartfelt hug. She appeared to be quite emotional after reuniting with her husband. 

Prior to being taken into custody by the police on Friday, Arjun was observed planting a kiss on a distressed Sneha's cheek. He also cupped her face in his hands. She was spotted standing beside him while he enjoyed his coffee.

US President-elect Donald Trump is deliberating various strategies to thwart Iran from developing a nuclear weapon, which may include preemptive airstrikes, as reported by The Wall Street Journal on Friday. 

This revelation coincides with reports that Israel is formulating contingency plans for a possible assault on Iranian nuclear sites, driven by escalating fears that the Islamic Republic, on the brink of creating a bomb, might expedite its efforts; Iran and its allied forces are currently diminished following over a year of conflict against Israel that was ignited when the Hamas militant organization in Gaza launched an offensive against the Jewish state on October 7, 2023. 

Trump has communicated to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during recent discussions that he wishes to avert an Iranian breakthrough during his administration, as the report indicated—while searching for a way to prevent the Islamic Republic from attaining nuclear capability that does not provoke a new conflict, particularly one involving US military personnel, according to the report citing transition officials. The incoming government is presently developing a “maximum pressure 2.0” initiative, the report stated, aiming to resurrect the aggressive sanctions policy on Iran that Trump implemented during his initial term after withdrawing from the Obama-era agreement designed to curtail its nuclear ambitions in exchange for relief from sanctions.
