Hamas returned three Israelis and five Thai hostages in Gaza on Thursday; however, Israel postponed the anticipated release of Palestinian detainees due to tumultuous events at one of the exchange locations, where throngs of people surrounded the hostages.
Cairo/Jerusalem: On Thursday, Hamas released three Israelis alongside five Thai captives in Gaza, but Israel postponed the expected freeing of Palestinian prisoners following chaotic moments at one of the transfer sites, where extensive crowds gathered around the released individuals.
Arbel Yehud, 29, who was taken from Kibbutz Nir Oz during the assault led by Hamas on Israel on October 7, 2023, appeared frightened and had difficulty navigating through the eager crowd as armed militants delivered her to the Red Cross in a dramatic scene in Khan Younis, located in the south.
In addition, another Israeli hostage, Gadi Moses, 80, was freed along with five Thai workers employed at Israeli farms near Gaza when the militants broke through the border fence, according to the Israeli military.
The mother of one of the Thai hostages watched a live stream of the event nervously from her residence in Udon Thani province in the northeast. "Please, let my son come out now, I want to see him," expressed Wiwwaro Sriaoun, 53, as she viewed the clips on her mobile device.
