Terrorist Linked to 14 Explosions in Punjab Arrested in the US: First Images Following Capture

A photograph showing Harpreet Singh, known as Happy Passia, a terrorist based in the United States, has been made public after his detention by the Immigration Department. 

After being apprehended and placed in the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), an image of Harpreet Singh, also known as Happy Passia, has been released.

He is accused of having illegally entered the United States and has been utilizing disposable phones to avoid capture.

In India, he is considered one of the most wanted individuals, with a bounty of Rs 5 lakh on his head. Over the past six months in Punjab, he is believed to have orchestrated 14 terror attacks. Beginning in November 2024, a sequence of bombings directing attention at police facilities in Amritsar prompted a manhunt for him. In many instances, he took to social media to claim responsibility for the assaults.

Information from security personnel indicates that Singh executed these terror activities in coordination with Pakistan's intelligence agency ISI and the group Babbar Khalsa International.

Among his recent attacks were incidents at the residences of a YouTuber and BJP leader Manoranjan Kalia, both located in Jalandhar. In his posts on social media, he identifies himself as an operative of the banned terrorist group Babbar Khalsa International and has collaborated with an individual named Rinda.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has determined that Passia was directly involved in the grenade attack in Chandigarh, stating that he was the one who lured two young men from Gurdaspur to throw a grenade at a house in Sector 10 of Chandigarh.

US airstrikes on an oil terminal in Yemen reportedly resulted in the deaths of 74 individuals, according to the Houthis, marking the most lethal attack during President Trump's recent campaign against them. 

This military action came after Israeli airstrikes targeted the Houthis, who had previously carried out strikes on port and oil facilities utilized by the rebels in response to attacks on Israel. 

The U.S. airstrikes aimed at a port controlled by Houthi forces caused 74 fatalities and left 171 injured, as reported by the militant group on Friday. This incident is the deadliest known event amidst President Trump's renewed military efforts against the rebels, which commenced on March 15. 

Evaluating the impact of Trump's military campaign has proven challenging, as the U.S. Central Command has yet to provide details on the campaign’s specific goals or the total number of casualties involved. 

Additionally, the Houthi rebels maintain strict oversight over access to the targeted areas and do not disclose information about the airstrikes, many of which likely targeted military and defense installations. 

The assault on the Ras Isa oil terminal, which produced large fireballs lighting up the night sky, marked a significant intensification of U.S. military operations. Following the strike, the Houthis quickly shared graphic videos featuring those who lost their lives in the incident. 

In an official statement, Central Command indicated that "U.S. forces acted to eradicate this fuel source for the Iran-aligned Houthi terrorists, cutting off illegal funds that have supported Houthi efforts to instill terror in the region for more than a decade." It further emphasized, "This operation was not aimed at harming the Yemeni people, who rightfully desire to escape Houthi oppression and live in peace." The statement did not confirm any casualties nor responded to The Associated Press's inquiries about reports of civilian deaths.

The Enforcement Directorate is seeking penalties for those implicated under Section 4 of the PMLA, which could lead to incarceration for as long as seven years. A chargesheet has been submitted by the Enforcement Directorate against Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and others related to alleged money laundering involving the National Herald case.

Special judge Vishal Gogne has reviewed the chargesheet, submitted on April 9, and scheduled the next hearing for April 25. In its prosecution complaint, the investigative agency has identified former Congress president Sonia Gandhi as the first accused, with her son, Rahul Gandhi, serving as the second accused and currently the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha.

The allegations have been presented under multiple provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) to the court presided over by special judge Vishal Gogne.

The list of accused also includes Congress affiliates Suman Dubey and Sam Pitroda, in addition to companies Young Indian and Dotex Merchandise Private Limited, as well as Sunil Bhandari from Dotex Merchandise.

The ED has applied sections 44 and 45 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) concerning the crime of money laundering as defined in Section 3 of the Act. It has also invoked Section 70, which addresses corporate crimes, to demonstrate the vicarious responsibility of the executives and office-bearers of the involved companies. The agency is pursuing sanctions for the accused as per Section 4 of the PMLA, which stipulates a maximum prison sentence of seven years.

Accusations against Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi

In the chargesheet, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has pointed to a 2017 Income Tax evaluation and accused prominent members of the All India Congress Committee (AICC), along with primary officials of Associated Journals Limited (AJL) and Young Indian, of creating a "criminal conspiracy" to seize properties valued at ₹2,000 crore that belong to AJL, which is a privately held public company, as reported by PTI.
