Donald Trump vs Kamala Harris: The 2024 campaign season's second general election debate and the first showdown between former President Donald Trump and US Vice President Kamala Harris will be a clash of contrasts.

ABC-hosted 90-minute debate will take place on September 10 at Philadelphia's National Constitution Center. Months after the June debate between Trump and incumbent President Joe Biden, Biden announced the end of his reelection bid and endorsed Harris in response to backlash over his performance, age, and fitness. The upcoming Tuesday night debate will not feature a live audience or live microphones. In a letter obtained by The Washington Post, the Harris team informed ABC that this arrangement puts her at a disadvantage by limiting face-to-face conversations with Trump. Trump's campaign advisor, Jason Miller, stated that they have accepted the terms of the ABC debate, similar to those of the CNN debate arranged when Biden was still a candidate. The debate, hosted by David Muir and Linsey Davis, will be broadcast on ABC News at 9 p.m. The program will include one episode with two commercial breaks. The event will be broadcast on ABC News Live, Disney+, Hulu, and Fox News.

Per ABC News, Trump won a coin toss on Tuesday which allowed him the opportunity to choose the podium location or the order of the final remarks.

40 Killed, 60 Injured In Gaza After Israel Strikes Humanitarian Zone

 

40 individuals were killed and 60 were injured in Gaza following an Israeli strike on a humanitarian zone. The Israeli military reported that the strike targeted Hamas terrorists operating within a command and control center located in the Humanitarian Area in Khan Yunis. Gaza's civil defence agency confirmed that the strike in the southern part of the territory resulted in the casualties. Al-Mawasi, a safe zone designated by Israel, was impacted by the strike, leading to casualties among displaced Palestinians seeking refuge there. Despite previous military operations in the area, this strike resulted in a significant number of casualties. Gaza civil defence officials reported that recovery efforts were ongoing, with casualties being transferred to nearby hospitals. The strike caused damage to numerous tents and left behind deep craters in the area. Israel asserted that the terrorist organizations in Gaza were misusing civilian and humanitarian infrastructure for terrorist activities. Hamas denied claims that its fighters were present at the scene of the strike. The ongoing conflict has led to a significant number of casualties on both sides, with efforts for a ceasefire and hostage-prisoner exchange currently stalled despite mediation attempts by the United States, Qatar, and Egypt.

The victim's cousin disclosed that the Chief Minister personally extended financial compensation to the family.

The mother of the victim vowed to persist in their movement until justice is achieved. The second-year postgraduate medical student was sexually assaulted and murdered in the seminar hall of RG Kar Medical College on August 9. 

The Supreme Court, during a hearing related to the assault and killing of a trainee doctor at Kolkata's RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, reminded the authorities on Monday that no punitive measures should be taken against doctors who resume work by 5 pm the following day. However, the court warned that failure to do so could result in disciplinary action from the state government.

Israel's aerial attacks targeted central Syria

 

Israel's aerial attacks targeted central Syria, resulting in four fatalities and more than ten people getting wounded. 

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a war monitoring organization based in the United Kingdom, stated that a scientific research facility in Maysaf was hit in one of the attacks. 

According to state media reports, several Israeli attacks struck various locations in central Syria on Sunday night, resulting in the deaths of at least four individuals, injuries to 13 others, and the ignition of fires. 

The state news agency of Syria, SANA, stated that Syrian air defenses "faced an attack that aimed at multiple locations in the central area," causing damage to a road in Hama province and starting fires that emergency response teams were working to contain on Monday morning. 

According to Faysal Haydar, the head of the hospital in western Hamas province, at least four deceased individuals and 13 injured individuals were brought to Masyaf National Hospital, as reported by SANA. It wasn't right away evident whether they were civilians or insurgents. 

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a UK-based monitoring group for war, stated that a scientific research facility in Maysaf was attacked along with other locations where "Iranian militias and professionals are located to enhance weapons in Syria." Reports from local media also indicated attacks near the coastal city of Tartous. 

The Israeli military did not provide an instant response. 

Israel has conducted numerous attacks on locations within territories under the control of the Syrian government that have been affected by conflict in the past few years, yet it seldom admits or talks about these actions. 

The attacks frequently aim for Syrian troops or militias supported by Iran. Israel has promised to prevent Iranian stronghold in Syria, especially because Syria serves as a crucial pathway for Iran to deliver armaments to the Lebanese insurgency group Hezbollah. 

Hezbollah has been engaging in skirmishes with Israeli forces over the last 11 months in the midst of Israel's conflict with Hamas - a comrade of Hezbollah - in Gaza.

"Communicated with President Putin today," he had posted on social networking site X on August 27, mentioning that the two leaders "Swapped viewpoints on the Russia-Ukraine conflict and my thoughts from the recent trip to Ukraine.
