An attempted sabotage of an Army special train in Madhya Pradesh was thwarted, with detonators discovered on the railway tracks in Nepanagar. Per received information, the detonators found were not planted by railway officials.
A military special train in Madhya Pradesh's Nepanagar was targeted for bombing on September 18th with 10 detonators placed on the tracks as part of a conspiracy, officials reported. In the Sagfata region within the Nepanagar Assembly, a group of unidentified individuals made an attempt to detonate explosives on a train, however, their plan was thwarted. The driver promptly halted the train after the detonators caused an explosion, alerting the station master, as reported by officials. The accident was prevented by this action.
Upon receiving the information, senior officials from ATS, NIA, Railways, and law enforcement conducted an inspection at the scene of the incident. Given that the case pertains to the military, confidentiality is being upheld by authorities.
The officials clarified that the detonator found on the railway track was not RDX-based, but rather a fog detonator.
Fog detonators are employed in close proximity to railway tracks to notify the train's locomotive pilot during foggy weather conditions through the emission of sound. Typically, a detonator is positioned at a specific location when required. However, in this particular occurrence, the detonator was not placed by the railway authorities nor intended to be placed by them. However, the wrongdoers managed to obtain expired railway detonators and positioned ten of them simultaneously on the track.
On September 18, at 1:48 pm, there was a deliberate attempt to derail the Army Special Train en route from Jammu and Kashmir to Karnataka by placing 10 detonators on the railway track close to the Sagfata railway station. A joint team of police department officials, including the Deputy Superintendent of Police, the Sub-Divisional Officer of Police for Nepanagar, and the station in-charge, conducted an inspection of the incident site on Saturday afternoon. Railway officials were also present during the inspection. On late Saturday evening, authorities from NIA, ATS, and various intelligence agencies arrived in Khandwa, thereby extending the investigation's reach.
