The U.S. is in talks about potential Israeli attacks on Iran's oil facilities

The U.S. is in talks about potential Israeli attacks on Iran's oil facilities while Israel continues its military campaign in Lebanon. Israel's representatives at the United Nations are actively engaged in these discussions. Ambassador Danny Danon stated in an interview with CNN on Thursday that his country possesses numerous retaliatory options and will soon demonstrate its strength to Tehran.

President Joe Biden stated on Thursday that there are discussions regarding potential strikes on Iran's oil facilities in response to Tehran's missile attack on Israel. Meanwhile, Israel's military carried out new air strikes on Beirut as part of its ongoing conflict with Lebanese armed group Hezbollah.

As Israel considers its next steps following Iran's recent large-scale assault, Biden was questioned about whether he would endorse Israel's targeting of Iran's oil facilities.

"We are currently engaging in discussions about that," Biden informed reporters.

Biden's remarks led to a spike in global oil prices, with escalating tensions in the Middle East raising concerns among traders about potential disruptions in the oil supply.

"Nothing is expected to occur today," Biden reassured. On Wednesday, the president announced his opposition to an Israeli military strike on Iran's nuclear facilities. Israel's representative at the U.N. Ambassador Danny Danon informed CNN on Thursday that his country possesses numerous retaliatory measures and intends to demonstrate its power to Tehran in the near future.

An official in Washington stated that Israel has not yet determined its response to Iran. The southern suburb of Dahiye in Beirut, a stronghold of the Hezbollah group backed by Iran, experienced additional strikes near midnight on Thursday. Residents and security sources reported that Israel had instructed people to evacuate certain areas of the district. The air raids specifically targeted Hashem Safieddine, a Hezbollah official believed to be the successor to the late Hassan Nasrallah, in an underground bunker. This information was shared by Axios reporter Barak Ravid, who referenced three Israeli officials.

Safieddine confirmed that his fate was uncertain. The Israeli military declined to provide a statement. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel pledged that Iran would be held accountable for the missile attack on Tuesday, while Washington expressed its intention to collaborate with the ally to ensure Iran faced severe repercussions. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, in Doha, asserted on Thursday that Tehran was prepared to retaliate. He stated, "Our armed forces will deliver a decisive response to any form of military attack, terrorist act, or violation of our red lines."

The Israeli Defense Forces have issued expanded evacuation notices in Lebanon during a heightened ground operation.

The Israeli Defense Forces have issued expanded evacuation notices in Lebanon during a heightened ground operation.

Friday saw the IDF report the elimination of another high-ranking Hezbollah member, Mahmoud Yusef Anisi. The Israeli Defense Forces stated that Anisi played a role in Hezbollah's development of precision-guided missiles in Lebanon. As Israel increased its military activities in Lebanon and initiated a ground invasion against Hezbollah, the Israeli military issued a warning on Thursday (September 3) for residents in Southern Lebanon to evacuate communities located beyond a buffer zone declared by the UN.

The Israeli military has advised residents to evacuate the Nabatieh region and other communities to the north of the Litani River. This decision is part of their efforts to escalate ground operations against the Hezbollah militant group that commenced earlier this week.

It should be emphasized that the recent uptick in hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah has led to considerable losses on Hezbollah's end. This includes the deaths of several of its key commanders, including the group's leader, Hassan Nasrallah. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) declared on Friday that they had eliminated Mahmoud Yusef Anisi, a senior figure in Hezbollah. Anisi was reportedly linked to Hezbollah's precision-guided missile production in Lebanon.

Anisi has been a member of Hezbollah for over 15 years and played a prominent role in leading the Hezbollah PGM campaign in Lebanon. He possessed extensive knowledge and a diverse range of technological skills in the realm of weapon production. The IDF will persist in combating the Hezbollah threat," the statement noted. Additionally, numerous civilians have been killed in Israeli airstrikes in various regions of Lebanon since mid-September, alongside casualties within Hezbollah ranks. The Lebanon Health Ministry reports that a minimum of 1,276 individuals have perished since the re-escalation of the conflict in the region.

The field of medical care has been significantly impacted by the ongoing conflict in Lebanon, as authorities have confirmed that Israeli attacks have targeted approximately nine hospitals and 45 healthcare facilities. The World Health Organization (WHO) has reported that 28 of its health workers were killed in Lebanon within the last 24 hours. In addition, the Lebanese Red Cross has confirmed that four of its paramedics were injured and one Lebanese army soldier lost his life while evacuating wounded individuals from the southern region.

The Red Cross society stated that the convoy, escorted by Lebanese troops, was attacked near the village of Taybeh despite having coordinated its movements with UN peacekeepers. The Israeli military has not issued a statement yet. In the wake of the event, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus remarked, "The healthcare infrastructure in Lebanon is declining." WHO is unable to deliver its medical supplies because Beirut's airport is almost completely closed.

Israel has instructed residents in southern Lebanon to evacuate villages

Israel has instructed residents in southern Lebanon to evacuate villages and a city. Its military announced "ground raids" in the region, controlled by Hezbollah, after heavy strikes in areas under the group's influence. Over 20 villages and a city were advised to relocate as the army continues to target Hezbollah positions. The Israeli army emphasized the residents' safety, urging them to move to the north of the Awali River immediately. "Protect your lives," stated Avichay Adraee, spokesperson for the army, on X. The announcement specifically mentioned Nabatiyeh, a city in southern Lebanon. Israel recently announced that its troops had initiated ground operations in southern Lebanon, a known stronghold of Hezbollah, after conducting multiple airstrikes in areas controlled by the group. The focus has now shifted to securing the northern border with Lebanon, where clashes have been occurring on a daily basis since Hezbollah showed support for Hamas with low-intensity strikes following an attack on October 7.

The persistence of caste discrimination in India remains unresolved despite 75 years of Independence. SC remarked

The Supreme Court expressed disappointment in its landmark judgment directing the cessation of caste-based segregation and division of labor in prisons, noting that the persistence of caste discrimination in India remains unresolved despite 75 years of Independence.

"After more than 75 years of independence, the issue of caste discrimination remains prevalent and unresolved." "We must establish a unified national vision for justice and equality that encompasses all individuals," declared Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud in the judgment. The judgment emphasized that the apprehensions articulated by Dr BR Ambedkar in his final speech to the Constituent Assembly are still relevant in present times.

Hence, it is imperative to promptly discern instances of prevailing inequalities and injustices within our society. "The Court stated that words without action would be meaningless for the oppressed." An institutional approach is required for members of marginalized communities to collectively express their grievances and concerns about their future.

The judgment in a petition filed by journalist Sukanya Shanta, which addressed caste-based segregation in prisons, was delivered by a bench consisting of CJI DY Chandrachud, Justices JB Pardiwala, and Manoj Misra. The Court deemed unconstitutional the provisions in the prison manuals of multiple states that authorized work assignments and segregation based on the prisoners' caste.

The Supreme Court has halted Tamil Nadu Police action against Sadhguru's Isha Foundation

The Supreme Court has halted Tamil Nadu Police action against Sadhguru's Isha Foundation, in response to a Madras High Court order requesting a report on criminal cases. The Madras High Court's directive for a report from Tamil Nadu Police on all criminal cases against Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev's Isha Foundation has been stayed by the Supreme Court. Senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi, representing the foundation, requested an urgent hearing from the Supreme Court, which was supported by the Centre.

India's Solicitor General, Tushar Mehta, stated that the High Court should have exercised caution. The Chief Justice of India, DY Chandrachud, along with Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra, transferred a habeas corpus petition regarding the alleged forceful detention of two young women by a foundation from the High Court to their own bench.

The bench conducted a private video conference with the two women before issuing final orders. One of the women claimed that their father has been engaging in "harassment" against them for the past 8 years. These matters pertain to religious freedom. This is a matter of great urgency and seriousness. This pertains to the Isha Foundation, where Sadhguru, a highly respected figure, has millions of followers. "The Chief Justice of India, Chandrachud, stated that the high court is unable to initiate inquiries based solely on verbal claims," as reported by Bar and Bench.

The Supreme Court has also prohibited the Tamil Nadu Police from taking any further actions as per the high court's directives, instructing them to provide a status report directly to the Supreme Court. The Madras High Court, during a hearing on a habeas corpus petition filed by a retired professor, reported that his well-educated daughters, aged 42 and 39, have allegedly been influenced by Jaggi Vasudev to reside permanently at the Isha Yoga Centre in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu." The professor claimed in his petition that his daughters were given food and medication at the center, resulting in diminished cognitive abilities. The foundation contended that the court should not broaden the case, as the daughters have acknowledged choosing to reside at the center voluntarily.

Comparison of Israel's Layered Missile Defense Systems with the Iranian Arsenal

Iran's Shahab-3 ballistic missile, boasting a range of 2,000 km, poses a significant threat to Israel's security. Iran utilized various types of weaponry to launch attacks on Israel on Tuesday night, including ballistic and cruise missiles as well as drones. These weapons have previously been employed to target different regions within the area. It is estimated that approximately 200 ballistic missiles were launched by Iran on Tuesday night. Let us examine this closely. Iran currently possesses a 300-kilometer range missile known as the Shahab-1. This is a short-range missile that lacks the capability to reach Israel. The missile is capable of targeting areas located at a considerable distance from Israel. The Fateh missile, on the other hand, has a range of 300 to 500 km. Once again, the first missile lacks the necessary range to reach Israel.

The Shahab 2 missile, on the other hand, has a longer range of 500 km but still falls short of reaching Israeli targets.

Only the Zolfaghar missile has the capability to possibly reach Israel. This missile has a range of 700 km, allowing it to potentially target areas in Israel. Additionally, the Qiam-1 missile has a range of 750 km, exceeding that of the Shahab-2 by 50 km. The missile in question is of a more advanced nature, capable of targeting additional areas within Israel but not penetrating deep into the country.

However, the Shahab-3, with a range of 2,000 km, has the capability to effectively strike all of Israel. It has the potential to impact multiple regions in the area. The missile under discussion may have been utilized in the recent attacks on Tuesday. Israel possesses advanced ballistic missile defense systems. It is a hierarchical defense mechanism that was evidently penetrated last evening. Videos have captured Iranian missiles striking Tel Aviv. Iran has also published footage depicting the launch of ballistic missiles from its land. The extent of their accuracy and the possibility of impacts from intercepted fragments remain unclear. When discussing Israeli surface-to-air missiles (SAMs) used in defense, it is important to consider the range and altitude at which these interceptor missiles operated to neutralize Iranian ballistic missiles. To begin, let us examine Israel's Arrow system. It is a component of a system, thus the terms missile and system are utilized interchangeably.

When discussing SAM systems, it is important to consider their range and altitude capabilities. Israel's Arrow system, for example, is designed to intercept incoming ballistic missiles in the exosphere, which is located just outside the atmosphere. The range of the response that will be generated falls between 2,000 and 2,400 kilometers. The system can reach an impressive altitude of up to 100 km, making it possibly the most advanced in its class globally. Other systems may have been utilized to intercept Iranian missiles last night. Let us now examine the following system, known as David's Sling. It is capable of flying up to a distance of 300 km and reaching an altitude of approximately 15 kilometers for interception purposes. Lastly, the focus of discussion centers around the Iron Dome. It is a missile system with a relatively short range. When discussing Israel's capabilities, the Iron Dome system is often highlighted as a key component.

The Iron Dome is integrated into the comprehensive missile defense system as the final layer of protection. The aircraft is capable of reaching an altitude of 10 kilometers and can travel up to a distance of approximately 70 kilometers. It is not ideal for intercepting ballistic missiles. The system is more capable of intercepting short-range rockets such as those launched by Hamas and Hezbollah. It is evident that some breaches have occurred in the system. However, numerous lives have been spared, with the predominant impact reportedly occurring at Israeli military installations.
