US eliminates high-ranking al-Qaeda member in Syria: Information
According to a tweet from the US Central Command, a targeted airstrike by the US military in Syria successfully took out a senior operative of al-Qaeda's Syrian faction.
On January 30, forces from US Central Command (CENTCOM) executed a precise airstrike in the northwestern region of Syria, resulting in the death of Muhammad Salah al-Za'bir, who was identified as a high-ranking member of the militant group Hurras al-Din (HaD), an affiliate of al-Qaeda, as stated in a military announcement. They indicated that this operation is aligned with CENTCOM's initiatives alongside its allies to thwart and prevent terrorists from strategizing, organizing, and executing attacks on civilians, US forces, and American allies.
"CENTCOM's mission is to pursue and neutralize terrorists while safeguarding our homeland from groups that aim to target US and allied personnel," asserted General Michael Erik Kurilla, who leads US Central Command.
Terrorist neutralization
In September of the previous year, US Central Command and Iraqi security forces executed a mission in Iraq, resulting in the removal of four leaders from ISIS.
Additionally, last year, a person linked to the planning of the September 11, 2001, attacks along with his co-conspirators entered guilty pleas.
Under a plea agreement, they received life sentences rather than the death penalty.
