"No Authority Can Discuss Independence in Jammu and Kashmir": Amit Shah in J&K
Reaffirming that autonomy will be reinstated in Jammu and Kashmir. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has stated prior to the upcoming Assembly elections that no authority can claim autonomy in that region.
The Home Minister also targeted opposition parties, alleging that the Congress, National Conference, and Mehbooba Mufti's PDP had plundered the former state and advising Congress leader Rahul Gandhi not to deceive the residents of Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking to BJP volunteers in Jammu's Palauru on Saturday, Mr. Shah discussed the abolishment of Article 370, which gave special privileges to Jammu and Kashmir. He highlighted the significance of the upcoming election, noting that it would be the first time voters in J&K would be voting under one flag and one Constitution, rather than two.
They (antagonistic factions) claim they desire to engage in discussions with Pakistan. Allow me to inform you that as long as there is tranquility, discussions with Pakistan will not occur... Three clans - Parliament, the Abdullah family of the National Conference, and the Mufti family of the PDP - are yearning to revert Jammu and Kashmir to the era of dishonesty. They claim they will restore the previous setup... They talk about restoring independence, but I must assert firmly that no authority can discuss independence in Jammu and Kashmir," the minister declared in Hindi.
Noting that Rahul Gandhi and the National Conference had assured to return statehood to Jammu and Kashmir - which was divided into two Union Territories, including Ladakh, following the revocation of Article 370 in 2019 - Mr. Shah questioned, "I would like to inquire from Rahul baba and Abdullah sahab, how do you plan to bring back statehood? Cease deceiving the residents of Jammu and Kashmir... Only the Union government and Prime Minister Modi have the capability to accomplish this task.
