Congress will rue it one day’: BJP’s Brij Bhushan on Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Punia coming on board before Haryana elections
Olympic athletes Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia, who became members of the Congress party on Friday, were leading the wrestlers' demonstration against ex-chief of the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh.
One day after wrestlers Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia decided to ally with Congress, BJP leader Brij Bhushan cautioned that the Congress will eventually regret their decision. He alleged that Phogat was "dishonest" in wrestling and went as far as labeling the 2023 wrestler's demonstration as "a Congress movement". He stated, "...today, this thing has been verified as correct."
Olympic athletes Vinesh Phogat and Bajrang Punia led the way in the wrestlers' demonstration against ex-Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Phogat and Punia stepped into the political realm on Friday by becoming members of the Congress party with a promise of "not feeling afraid or retreating".
Following the recent events, Bhushan remarked, "On the 18th of January 2023, during the commencement of the protest at Jantar Mantar, I expressed that this is not a movement led by athletes; rather, it is orchestrated by the Congress party, specifically figures such as Bhupinder Hooda, Deepender Hooda, Priyanka, Rahul. This is essentially a Congress-led movement."
The BJP leader conveyed that Bhupinder Hooda, Deepender Hooda, Bajrang, or Vinesh were not staging a sit-in to show respect for the girls. However, he stated that because of them, the daughters of Haryana are experiencing shame.
