Sources have indicated that the concept of 'One Nation, One Election' mentioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his Independence Day speech will be realized during the current tenure of the government. The government is dedicated to implementing this proposal, which has long been deliberated in the parliament. The Commission is expected to propose concurrent elections for Lok Sabha, state assemblies, and local bodies such as municipalities and panchayats from 2029, with provisions for a unity government in cases of a hung house or no-confidence motion.

Implementing this proposal would require aligning electoral schedules with minimal disruption to governance and addressing the logistical challenges of synchronizing all states on the same timeline. There is a noticeable lack of clarity regarding the procedure in situations involving House dissolution, implementation of President's Rule, or dealing with a hung Assembly or Parliament.
Regional parties have expressed concern over their limited resources hindering their ability to bring attention to local issues amidst the noise surrounding the Lok Sabha election.
