Sandip Ghosh, once again. Ghosh, who is the former principal, is currently in judicial custody for alleged financial irregularities that occurred during his tenure at the hospital. Sandip Ghosh and police officer Abhijit Mondal have been implicated in the rape and murder of a postgraduate doctor within the hospital's seminar hall on August 9. Ghosh is currently held in judicial custody for allegations of corruption during his time at the hospital.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is conducting investigations into allegations of money laundering against him. Details of the raids conducted so far in the case have been shared.
The CBI has recently imposed multiple charges against Ghosh. According to sources in the agency, he was detained for obstructing the investigation and purportedly participating in the tampering of evidence by failing to promptly report the victim's death and significantly delaying the registration of the FIR. The agency has filed a request with a local court to detain Ghosh for further investigation into allegations of rape and murder. He was apprehended on September 2 in connection with financial discrepancies at the hospital while serving as principal.
The Supreme Court, presiding over a suo motu case, on September 9 highlighted the disparity in timing between the general diary (GD) entry and the FIR registration. "It is evident that there is a minimum delay of 14 hours in filing the FIR," remarked Chief Justice DY Chandrachud.
