More wireless devices detonated in Lebanon in a second incident. The explosions occurred in various locations including the southern suburbs of Beirut, targeting Hezbollah. According to the Lebanese health ministry, at least 20 individuals lost their lives and 450 others sustained injuries.

Twenty people were killed and numerous were wounded in Lebanon on Wednesday after walkie-talkies belonging to Hezbollah members exploded. This incident marked the second coordinated attack involving booby-trapped devices targeting the militant group within two days. Lebanese and Hezbollah officials confirmed the details of the explosions.

The death toll as a result of the two attacks has now risen to at least 32 individuals, including several confirmed Hezbollah members. Approximately 3,000 individuals have been reported injured in the recent attacks that occurred since Tuesday afternoon. The explosions of numerous pagers owned by Hezbollah members resulted in 12 fatalities and left thousands with severe injuries. This event dealt a significant blow to Hezbollah, a Lebanese-based militant organization supported by Iran, and have plunged Lebanon into chaos. 

Hezbollah, along with authorities from the United States and other nations briefed on the situation, attributed the Tuesday blasts to Israel. The explosions followed months of ongoing cross-border conflicts between the two parties, heightening concerns of a potential large-scale war between Israel and Hezbollah. The group has launched numerous missiles and drones at Israeli areas since October in support of Hamas in Gaza. The Israeli military did not provide a response upon request regarding the recent explosions on both Tuesday and Wednesday. Yoav Gallant, the Israeli defense minister, stated in a video message on Wednesday evening that a new phase of the conflict has commenced, with focus shifting towards the northern region. Gallant did not directly address the explosions in Lebanon, but emphasized the reallocation of Israel's military efforts, resources, and attention towards the threat from Hezbollah. 

The recent attacks on Wednesday involved the use of walkie-talkies, specifically the IC-V82 model manufactured by the Japanese company Icom. The origin of the devices purchased by Hezbollah is unknown. They were bigger and more substantial than the pagers that detonated nationwide on Tuesday. In certain instances, they ignited larger fires, indicating the potential presence of greater quantities of explosives. 


Explosions spark fear: The blasts on Wednesday instigated fear at a memorial service for two Hezbollah combatants, a paramedic, and a child who perished in the attacks the day before. Attendees at the funeral of 9-year-old Fatima Abdullah in the village of Saraain were advised to power off their mobile phones by removing the batteries. The group chanted "They killed our child Fatima" while moving through the cemetery.
