Son of Ryan Wesley Routh, a suspect apprehended in relation to the second assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump, expressed that his father held a deep commitment to the cause of Ukraine amidst the ongoing conflict.
As per a report from The Guardian, Oran Routh shared that his father had visited Ukraine and personally witnessed casualties. Oran reported during a brief telephone call that his father witnessed individuals engaged in combat and experiencing casualties. "He made an effort to ensure everything was under control, but unfortunately, things were not under control," remarked the younger Routh, as cited by The Guardian. Former United States President and Republican candidate for the 2024 US presidential race, Donald Trump, faced a second assassination attempt when gunshots were heard near the Trump International Golf Course in West Palm Beach, Florida on September 15, 2024.
This incident occurred shortly before the upcoming presidential elections in November of the same year, and just two months after Trump was targeted during a rally in Pennsylvania. Oran Routh, son of Ryan Routh, proceeded to criticize the ex-President following the arrest of his father. The Guardian reported that during the US Presidential Debate on September 12, Trump dodged questions about Ukraine. In reference to this, Routh Jr. commented, "Meanwhile, this individual is sitting at his desk, not taking any action." Ryan Routh's account on X (formerly Twitter) has been suspended for violating the platform's rules.
