Jiribam is the location where Meitei and Hmar leaders convened for discussions on peace last month, in the presence of security forces chiefs. Kuki factions in Churachandpur have raised concerns about the peace negotiations, claiming that the negotiation parties do not advocate for their needs and only meet at the request of Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh.
The Hmar Inpui, nonetheless, stated it would not acknowledge the peace proposal and cautioned the people who took part in the gathering to "cease their foolish and self-centered endeavors".
