8 Deceased, 28 Wounded Following Structure Falls Apart In Lucknow
The number of fatalities in the Lucknow building collapse has increased to eight as rescuers recovered three additional bodies from the wreckage, officials reported on Sunday.
Twenty-eight individuals sustained injuries after the collapse of a three-story building containing warehouses and a car repair shop in the Transport Nagar region on Saturday evening.
The Bodies of three individuals, identified as Raj Kishore (27), Rudra Yadav (24) and Jagrup Singh (35), were found by the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) during the search and rescue mission, according to Relief Commissioner G S Naveen.
The process is ongoing.
A high-ranking district administration official stated their current emphasis is on guaranteeing that nobody else is caught beneath the debris.
Law enforcement stated that the structure was built approximately four years ago and certain building activities were in progress at the moment of the event. The majority of the casualties were employed on the first level when the event transpired at 4:45 in the afternoon on Saturday.
The wounded individuals have been taken to different medical facilities such as Lok Bandhu Hospital within the region.
As per authorities, the structure contained a vehicle repair shop and storage area on the lower level, a medical supplies warehouse on the level above, and a kitchenware storage space on the top level.
Akash Singh, who was employed at the medical warehouse and was one of the wounded individuals, mentioned that a support pillar in the structure had shown signs of damage. We descended to the first floor due to the rain. We observed that a column of the structure had formed a fissure. All of a sudden, the whole structure crumbled down on top of us," he expressed.
