AAP LIQUOR POLICY SCAM
As part of the Delhi excise policy case, the Enforcement Directorate summoned Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday.
Upon receiving the summons, Delhi minister Saurabh Bharadwaj stated, "From the news that the ED has summoned Delhi CM, it is clear that the Centre is trying to somehow end AAP." To put Arvind Kejriwal in jail and destroy AAP, they are framing a false case without a care in the world."
In connection with the investigation into corruption and criminal conspiracy in the case, Kejriwal was questioned by the CBI for around nine hours on April 16. “They called me at 11 am and questioned me until 8.30pm. The CBI officers were kind and courteous to me. I answered all the questions as I had nothing to hide”, Kejriwal had said.
Former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh are in jail in connection with the case.
A new Delhi excise policy was implemented in November 2021 by the Arvind Kejriwal government. The policy was scrapped on July 31 last year after it came under scrutiny.
In August 2022, the CBI had registered a case against 15 accused, including Sisodia, in connection with alleged irregularities in the implementation of the policy. Two days later, the agency searched Sisodia's Delhi offices.
The CBI questioned Sisodia for eight hours on October 17 and summoned him again on February 18 this year after filing a chargesheet against him. He was arrested by the CBI on February 26.
