The introduction of the Impact Player rule, going by the concept of other team sports like football, rugby and basketball, in the 2023 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) added a new dimension to T20 cricket. While the move initially received widespread criticism from cricket pundits, who feared that it would eventually negate the role of all-rounders in the match, it emerged as a key tactical element for teams across the 85 matches played in IPL since its introduction. However, on Saturday, Lucknow Super Giants exposed a loophole in the concept when they introduced Afghanistan's Naveen-ul-Haq as the Impact Player for wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul during their batting innings in the IPL 2024 match against Punjab Kings at the Ekana Stadium.

What does the Impact Player rule say?

According to the concept, each team needs to name a playing XI and five substitute fielders at the time of the toss. Teams can select one player from the pool as a stopper. Teams may use this rule only once during the game, but may choose not to use it.

According to the rules published in 2023, it is stated that the players involved are only Indian unless there are less than 4 foreign players in the partnership. At the same time, foreign players can only work towards impressing players if there are few foreign players in the starting team. Only foreign players from the 5 leagues on the list can be used as players. If a team introduces a foreign player as a substitute, the fifth foreign player cannot play at all.

More than 40 people killed in Israeli strikes on Syria’s Aleppo: Reports

More than 40 people killed in Israeli strikes on Syria’s Aleppo: Reports

More than 40 people, mostly soldiers, were killed in Israeli airstrikes on Syria's northern Aleppo province, according to media and war observers.

Lebanese military groups confirmed that five Hezbollah members were among the dead. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), headquartered in England, announced the death toll as 42 and reported that many people were injured. Reuters reported that a total of 38 people died.

The Syrian Ministry of Defense said the attacks targeted several areas in the Aleppo countryside around 01:45 on Friday (22:45 GMT on Thursday). Syrian state news agency SANA reported that there was no loss of life, only some civilians and soldiers lost their lives and property was damaged in the attacks by Israel and unidentified forces.

War observer SOHR said in a statement to X that Israel attacked a weapons depot near Aleppo international airport, causing large explosions.

He added that at least 36 Syrian soldiers were killed and Hezbollah's weapons depots were located in the region.

The Israeli army did not confirm these attacks.

Al Jazeera correspondent Zeina Khodr reported from Beirut, Lebanon, that while Syrian state media did not disclose the target, local rebels said Syrian army and Hezbollah soldiers in Syria were killed.

“Recently, we have seen almost consecutive Israeli strikes in Syria as it widely hits Iranian targets in Syria,” Khodr reported.

Israel for years has carried out strikes in Syria, where Iranian-aligned groups, including Hezbollah, hold sway in eastern, southern and northwestern areas of the country as well as the suburbs around the capital, Damascus.

Have a childlike curiosity about technology, but never been a slave to it: PM Modi to Bill Gates

Have a childlike curiosity about technology, but never been a slave to it: PM Modi to Bill Gates

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his chat with Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, shared a glimpse of what kind of a personal relationship he has with technology. The Prime Minister as well as Gates, were very keen to know about each other’s journey with tech.

When asked about his relationship with technology, Prime Minister Modi revealed that although he is fascinated by technology and is innately curious about all innovations, he has never been bound by it, and was never a slave to it.

“I am fascinated by technology. I am by no means an expert, but I am curious about, almost like a child,” said the PM. "But I am not a slave to technology. I am always looking for new technology and new developments in technology, but I have no reservations about how to integrate and use it."

The President explained how he sees new technologies and his relationship with them. "When the world started talking about artificial intelligence, I started to think that we could integrate it into our lives," he said. “I also tend to look for technologies’ multifaceted applications and utilities. I have this innate curiosity, maybe a gift from god to explore and adopt innovations swiftly,” PM Modi added.

PM Modi was also curious about Gates’ journey in tech. He asked the co-founder turned philanthropist, what was the most satisfying moment of his journey as a tech honcho.

“I was lucky to have been born at the time when the chip miracle happened,” began Gates. “I got a very good education. I have an optimistic view. I was able to drop out of school to take risks didn’t seem that dangerous to me,” he said.

Pulling the strings: Obama telling White House what he would do as Biden doubts grow

As President Biden appears to get more unpopular, weaker, and frail by the day, former President Obama is stepping in to give the White House advice on what should be done to save the country from former President Trump.

Poll after poll is now showing Trump clobbering Biden in the upcoming presidential election and Obama is beginning to panic over it. Suddenly, he is riding to the rescue. The New York Times is coming right and saying it these days.

“As the election approaches, President Biden is making regular calls to former President Barack Obama to catch up on the race or to talk about family. But Mr. According to the New York Times, Obama is calling on White House director Jeffrey D. Zients and his aides in the Biden campaign to provide advice and recommendations.

"This partnership demonstrates Obama's support for Mr. Trump." Biden, also Mr. Obama's biggest concern is Mr. Biden will lose to former President Donald J. Trump. One of his senior aides, who was not authorized to speak publicly, said Obama was "constantly" worried about Biden losing. The assistant added that he was therefore ready to 'get along' with the former president in an election that could be narrow in many states. "More news.

Obama doesn't seem to be a big fan of Biden and warns President Trump could sweep swing states in November election.

"Obama's 2016 bid to let former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton He reportedly urged not to run for the Democratic nomination. Although they supported him in 2008, the former president did not support Biden until after the administration in 2020. The Washington Examiner noted that he bought tickets in 2012 and 2012.

Trump currently leads in nearly every swing state, according to national polls. That fact alone has Biden inserting himself into the mix and taking control of the narrative. Whether Biden can make it through election day remains to be seen but Obama will be there pulling the strings, holding the president up as long as he can in what increasingly mimics “Weekend at Bernie’s.”

US Reacts After Diplomat Summoned Over Arvind Kejriwal's Arrest; Germany Exudes Confidence In Indian Legal System

While India called on US diplomats to protest, the US stood by its comments on Arvind Kejriwal's arrest. The country is now also proposing to put money into the banking system, which would "make it harder for voters to influence the next election."

Washington said Wednesday that it supports fair, transparent and timely legislation and "believes no one will oppose it."

"We continue to closely monitor these actions, including the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal," said US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller.

Miller responded to questions from the State Department regarding a phone call made by Gloria Berbena, India's head of mission in New Delhi, earlier that day and the reserve release of the Congress party currency bank.

"We also know that the Congress party has claimed that the tax authorities have closed some of their bank accounts, which will make it difficult for them to effectively fight elections in the first place. All issues.

"Regarding your first question, I will not mention any private diplomatic conversations but actually what we say in public is little First is what I said here and we encourage it to be honest, transparent, legal in a timely manner. I believe that no one should oppose this.

State Department officials called the head of the delegation, Gloria Berbena, at her office in South Delhi and protested the statements made by US State Department officials regarding Kejriwal's arrest. The meeting lasted more than 30 minutes.

A US official said Washington "supports Prime Minister Kejriwal in taking legal action in a fair, transparent and timely manner."

Police Department arrests Kejriwal in a financial case related to GST policy 'scam'. Earlier, the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs had stated that Delhi strongly objected to the statement made by the US State Department spokesperson regarding some laws in India.

The Ministry said, "In diplomacy, the country must respect the sovereignty and internal affairs of other countries. This responsibility also applies to other democracies. Otherwise, it will set a bad precedent."

"The legal system in India is based on independent judiciary and is committed to objectives and timely results. Criticisms of this are not correct." MEA said.

Germany has full confidence in the Indian constitution

The next day, India summoned the German ambassador and described the comments on Kejriwal's arrest as a "negative impact". A German foreign correspondent praised India's determination and unwavering confidence.

The high court refused to interfere with CM's arrest. Hence, there's no interim relief for Delhi CM today. The matter will now be heard on April 3.

Arvind Kejriwal's petition, in which he has sought immediate release on account of the arrest and the subsequent remand to the ED being “illegal”, was heard by Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma. The court will announce its decision in the evening.

The national organizer of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was arrested on March 21 and later sent to ED custody by the Delhi court for "detailed and sustained interrogation" against him till March 28.

Kejriwal had earlier approached the court to quash and set aside all the cases, including the summons filed against him.

Amit Soussana: Israeli woman held hostage by Hamas shares her Sexual Assault Ordeal

On October 7, Israeli lawyer Amit Soussana was kidnapped from his home by at least 10 people, some of whom were soldiers, beaten and dragged to Gaza. He said that a few days after he was taken into captivity, guards began questioning him about his sex life.

Miss Susanna said her child was alone in his bedroom and his left ankle was sprained. She said sometimes guards would come and sit next to the bed, take his shirt and touch him.

She asked many times when her period would end. She recalled that when her period ended on October 18, she pretended to bleed for about a week in an attempt to delay her arrival.

He said that around October 24, a guard who identified himself as Muhammad attacked him.

She said that in the morning Muhammad freed her from her chains and left her in the bathroom. After taking off his clothes and starting to wash in the bathtub, Muhammad came back and stood in front of the door with a gun in his hand.

"He came up to me and put a gun to my forehead," said Ms. Susana returned from an eight-hour interview with the New York Times in mid-March. She said Mohamed punched Ms Sushana and forced her to remove her towel, then grabbed her body, made her sit on the edge of the bathtub and hit her again.

He remembers dragging her back at gunpoint to the nursery, which was decorated with pictures of the SpongeBob SquarePants cartoon.

"Then he pointed a gun at me and forced me to have sex with him," said Ms. said Susanna.

Miss Susanna, 40, became the first Israeli to speak publicly about sexual violence in captivity since Hamas took control of southern Israel. In a mostly English-language interview with The Times, she detailed the sexual and other violence she suffered during the 55-day ordeal.

Ms. Susana's personal account of her experiences in captivity is similar to what she told both the doctor and the social worker 24 hours after her release on 30 November. His reports on his account emphasized the nature of the relationship; Time's deal doesn't disclose specific details.

Ms. Susana described being arrested in approximately six locations, including private homes, offices and underground tunnels. Later, while he was in prison, a group of attackers hung him from the gap between two chairs and beat him, she said.

For months, Hamas and its supporters have denied that its members harmed those arrested or during the October 7 protests. A UN report published this month said there was "clear and convincing evidence" that some victims had been sexually abused, and while an analysis of the problem there confirmed there was a "reasonable" belief that same sex was occurring when an attack occurred. “challenges and constraints.” question.

Stop the war: On the U.N. Security Council’s call for a Gaza ceasefire

Five and a half months after Israel began attacking Gaza, 32,000 Palestinians have been killed and 74,000 injured; More than 90% of the enclave's population was displaced and almost during the hunger crisis, the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) had called for the "immediate halt" and full release of those detained by Hamas on 25 March. The USA, which had previously vetoed all United Nations resolutions calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, abstained from the vote, indicating a change in the Biden administration. All other members of the UN Security Council also adopted the resolution, including Britain, which until recently had resisted calls to escalate the conflict. Israel responded angrily, canceling a planned visit to Washington by two of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's council aides and criticizing the decision backed by China and Russia for not banning the release of criminals. But behind the anger and opposition lurks Israel's weakness. Israeli officials have repeatedly said in recent weeks that they were about to occupy the southern city of Rafah, where about 1.4 million Palestinians are imprisoned. After 14 members of the UN Security Council called for an immediate ceasefire, Israel's attack on Rafah was unnecessary and could have led to further casualties.

The latest war was sparked when Hamas crossed the border on October 7, killing at least 1,200 Israelis. That day, the Israelites received sympathy and solidarity from all over the world. But what Israel did over the next few months was to punish the entire population of Gaza for what Hamas had done, leading to international protests. If Israel focuses on this situation, it must immediately comply with UN Security Council resolutions and declare conflict. The October 7 attack was a major intelligence and security failure in itself. Netanyahu needs to be held accountable. Instead of doing this, he threw himself into war without achieving any goals. After months of fighting, Israel has destroyed much of Gaza but has not yet destroyed Hamas or freed the hostages. The long-running war has increased discord in Netanyahu's cabinet. The president is very unpopular and his allies are fighting each other. The war also isolated Israel and strained relations with allies, including the United States. If Israel continues the war without a clear vision, the internal and external challenges it faces will increase, as well as the loss of life. In the Gaza area, many Palestinians are under siege, fighting, fighting and being bombed. Mr. Netanyahu faces two options. He could get the UN Security Council's message and stop the war and allow emergency aid to Gaza.
