Israeli PM Netanyahu agrees to send delegation to Egypt, Qatar for Gaza talks
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has agreed to send representatives to Egypt and Qatar as part of an ongoing partnership to discuss the release of Israeli criminals and possible stoppages in Gaza, his office announced Friday.
Netanyahu approved representatives of Israeli intelligence agencies Shin Bet and Mossad to increase talks in Doha and Cairo. Despite recent UN Security Council resolutions calling for an immediate ceasefire, talks between Hamas and Israel have not been successful, with both sides blaming each other. Mediator Qatar confirmed that talks regarding the Gaza talks and the release of the actors were ongoing, but details were still scarce.
The war began when Hamas launched an unprecedented offensive by Israel, killing an estimated 1,160 people, mostly civilians, according to AFP Israeli figures. The Israeli army launched an offensive against Hamas in Gaza that killed 32,623 people, mostly women and children, according to the health ministry in the Hamas-controlled region.
