The Delhi High Court on Wednesday heard a petition by jailed Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal challenging his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money-laundering case linked to the alleged excise policy scam. The high court refused to interfere with CM's arrest. Hence, there's no interim relief for Delhi CM today. The matter will now be heard on April 3.

Arvind Kejriwal's petition, in which he has sought immediate release on account of the arrest and the subsequent remand to the ED being “illegal”, was heard by Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma. The court will announce its decision in the evening.

The national organizer of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was arrested on March 21 and later sent to ED custody by the Delhi court for "detailed and sustained interrogation" against him till March 28.

Kejriwal had earlier approached the court to quash and set aside all the cases, including the summons filed against him.

AAP took to the streets on Tuesday over the arrest of Arvind Kejriwal; its leaders and staff tried to march to the Prime Minister's house but were prevented; The BJP, on the other hand, staged a protest demanding the removal of the Delhi Governor.

During the day, Arvind Kejriwal also opened a second emergency room for health minister Saurabh Bharadwaj to address the shortage of medicines and diagnostics in Mohalla clinics and hospitals in the city.
