Pakistan: 13 soldiers die in a suicide bombing in the northwestern region
The attack has been attributed to the suicide bomber faction of the Hafiz Gul Bahadur militant group, which is part of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). A news outlet reported that 29 individuals, including non-combatants, sustained injuries during the incident.
A minimum of 13 soldiers lost their lives in a suicide attack in the country's northwest, as reported by AFP on Saturday, citing local government and police officials. It was also noted that 29 individuals, comprising civilians, were hurt in the attack.
"A suicide bomber struck a military convoy using a vehicle packed with explosives. The explosion resulted in the deaths of 13 soldiers, wounding 10 military personnel and 19 civilians," stated a local government representative from the North Waziristan district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Pakistan.
"The blast led to the roof collapse of two homes, injuring six children," revealed a police officer stationed in the area to AFP.
The report indicated that four of the injured soldiers are in critical condition, according to an administrative official. Additionally, the attack was linked to the suicide bomber faction of the Hafiz Gul Bahadur group, a segment of the Pakistan Taliban, as mentioned in the report.
5 children hurt in mortar shell blast
On Saturday, at least fourteen individuals, including five children, suffered injuries when a mortar shell launched from an unknown site struck a residence in northwestern Pakistan close to the Afghan border, as per reports.
The mortar round detonated inside a home located in Kachhi Kamar village within the Kurram district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, causing partial destruction, according to news agency PTI.
