Donald Trump suggests a significant trade agreement with India following a China deal
Trump mentioned that the United States has finalized a trade agreement with China, although he did not provide specific details.
On Thursday, US President Donald Trump revealed that his administration has reached a trade pact with China and suggested that a substantial deal with India might be on the horizon. Trump stated, "We have just signed (a trade deal) with China. We’re not planning to engage with every country... However, we are securing some excellent agreements. There’s something major potentially coming up with India.” He made these remarks during a White House gathering focused on advocating for a government spending initiative.
“We’re going to expand our ties with India. With the deal with China, we’re beginning to enhance our relationship with them. Developments that previously seemed impossible are occurring, and our connections with all nations are thriving,” he continued. Nonetheless, the US president did not provide further information regarding the agreement with China.
In his address, Trump also emphasized that the White House will not pursue agreements with all countries.
"We’re not going to strike deals with everyone. For some, we will simply send a letter expressing our gratitude. They are expected to pay 25, 35, or 45 percent. That’s the straightforward approach, and my team isn’t keen on proceeding that way. They want to pursue some agreements, yet they aim for more than I would,” he explained.
